The Alliance for Justice has been a valuable resource and partner to the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy and our Grantmaking for Community Impact Project (GCIP), which seeks to increase philanthropic dollars going to support advocacy, community organizing and civic engagement.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The Alliance for Justice has developed an impressive array of tools to help advocates and advocacy grantmakers assess their capacity and measure their impact. Their Resources for Evaluating Community Organizing (RECO) online database is a very informative and current source of information in the field.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I can't think if changes needed to the Alliance for Justice advocacy programs.

I am the Executive Director of Greater Boston Legal Services. I am called upon to advise my own organization and other non-profits on what what non-profits can and cannot about lobbying and political issues. Although I am a lawyer and have sixty lawyers on our staff, when a hard issue comes up I look to the Alliance for Justice for the best legal advice in this very complex area.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Giving advice.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Assure them a steady stream of funding.

How does this organization compare with others in the same sector?

Very Well

How much of an impact do you think this organization has?

A lot

Will you recommend this organization to others?

Definitely

What is unique about this organization?

They are the nation's experts on the law of non-profit advocacy. Too often non-profits and foundations think they cannot do "lobbying". Yet advocacay with elected officials and with the public about legislative issues is often crucial to the mission of non-profits and the foundations that fund them. The Alliance guides non-profits through this area, so they can be effective while still within the bounds of the law.

Whenever any group is concerned about what they legally can and cannot do, I refer them to Alliance for Justice. The Alliance's publications are indispensable. Their email updates are timely, and their workshops and other programs are clear and straightforward. The Alliance provides excellent service to the non-profit community, helping groups make sure they are operating legally and with maximum efficiency.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Workshops, publications, emails, and one-on-one conversations.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make sure it had more money so it could do even more.

I have only had great experiences with Alliance for Justice. As a progressive organizer who cares about the federal judiciary, I find them to be a unique and trusted resource. As one of their e-activists, their action-alerts keep me abreast of important issues and allow me to make an impact. I also often use their reports about nominees to the federal bench and the current state of our federal circuit courts. I especially find their judicial selection update helpful.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

They're willing to do the difficult background work on nominees which provides powerful tools for activists like myself to use in the progressive movement.
