I have worked with All Hands all over the Country. I am always happy to partner with them and help play a role in the Disaster clean up/ recovery phase. All Hands Volunteers brings many important "tools" to the table. They can set up volunteer camps and Coordination centers are just a few. This is only the U.S side! I would Highly recomend AHV to any one who may be interisted in helping out in a disaster.
I worked both as volunteer for All Hands and then later in collaboration with them from my Position as Rural Shelter Manager of Cordaid Haiti. In this time I have come to develop a huge respect for their disaster relief model and the human impact I see that All Hands achieves every day in the field. Some may be mislead into thinking that their relatively small size (Compared to other larger NGO actors) limits the scope of what their organisation can achieve, but those people would be wrong. Beyond the measurable results of All Hands work they play an important role through their interaction with the community - walking the streets, making friends with the Haitian Community and the success of their local volunteer program. All Hands effectively act as ambassadors for NGO presence within the country sending an important message of solidarity to the Haitian people that unquestionably benefits the security situation for the international community. Furthermore their grassroots funding model not only accounts for their meteoric rise in profile but puts many other NGO's efforts to shame. The impact they have made for such a young non profit organisation should surely give us pause to learn from their successful model.
