Community Reviews

I'm am so proud to work with such a great group of devoted, caring people as I've found in AAPAW and its members. From the board to the committees to the volunteers, everyone is trying to join together to reach a common goal -- no more homeless pets in San Antonio! Whether it be through adoptions, community education, transporting animals, fostering, sharing information, evaluating animals, providing medical treatments and vaccinations, donating money or items, or spay/neuter programs, we all strive to make a difference each and every day.

AAPAW plays a valuable role in partnering with others to help support the city Strategic Plan to obtain and maintain a "no kill" status and improve the well being of our pet population. Our rescue members are extremely dedicated and hardworking and it is a pleasure to work with them in this process.

Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare is a great group of shelters, rescues, veterinarians, spay/neuter agencies, pet service providers who have come together to help the city of San Antonio achieve No Kill through CARE ADOPT NEUTER programs. In 2010, AAPAW organized 18 mega adoption events involving over 20 groups to find homes for 1039 dogs and cats. I am very proud of the diverse members coming together beyond their respective organizations to save the lives of animals in need time after time. AAPAW is an all volunteer organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

its development and growth since its inception in 2007. Adoptions increased from 101 in 2007 to 1039 in 2010 - from 1 event in 2007 to 18 events in 2010. AAPAW anticipates organizing 30 events in 2011.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

like to develop a stronger and more committed volunteer base.
