The mission of Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW) is to bring animal welfare organizations, veterinarians and the community together in partnership to improve the lives of animals in the San Antonio area.


AAPAW has already successfully found homes at Mega Adoption Events for over 3100 homeless pets, with almost 1000 in 2011 alone.

When I landed in San Antonio in 2011 I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of homeless pets and needless euthanasia. AAPAW became my go-to resource for local animal welfare information. AAPAW representatives helped direct me to where my talents could best be utilized. So instead of spinning my wheels in frustration I have been able to help save lives. Every city should have an (A)APAW!

I was originally discouraged from trying to help homeless animals, but AAPAW and the members that I networked with gave me needed encouragement and creative solutions to reach my goals (saving animal lives).
