Achilles International has partnered with Air Compassion for Veterans to provide flights for recently wounded veterans to participate in marathons around the country as part of their rehabilitation. Because of Air Compassion's support, we are able to include more wounded veterans on these trips giving them the opportunity to achieve and set goals post injury. It is a pleasure working with the staff there and we look forward to continuing our partnership on future events.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

they are very easy to work and care about the population they are serving.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

incredibly kind and helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide flights for even more veterans and wounded veterans.

I am a veteran and closely follow the activities of ACV. This efficiently run charity provides critical transportation to wounded warriors and their families when government can't or won't cover the costs.

Because I do volunteer writing of fundiong proposals for the organization I know the details of what they do and how very efficient they are in using their resources. There is no question about the critical help they provide to wounded warriors and veterans - and their adversely affected families - it is great! You can have all kinds of services for veterans and wounded warriors - but if they can't get to the services - it can do them no good. ACV ensures they get to the services they need.

meeting critical needs of wounded warriors and their family caregivers. I've been with the families who have benefitted. I've written stories about how ACV met needs in their lives.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make a huge difference for veterans of all ages that would allow the Department of Veterans affairs to provide so much more service to those who need it the most.

Not only does this wonderful organization help military members, it helps family, extended family and "future" family members (those engaged to the service member). The organization's mission, staff's service and compassion are unequaled. Five stars to ACV!

Without Air Compassion for Veterans, many of the patients in this unit would have to wait for many months to be reunited with their families post-deployment. The organization is wonderfully responsive to requests, even on short notice. The only limitation is flight availability. Hopefully, the contest will help increase the number of available seats for veterans and their family members.

As a premier Veterans Service Organization, AMVETS is a proud partner with AVC. Their mission is critical in supporting our Nation’s Heroes. AMVETS Healing Heroes program is enhanced by our association and we routinely encourage our 1,300 local posts to consider providing financial assistance. Their leadership team is professional and dedicated in their service to our service members and their families.

As both a disabled veteran and employee of Air Compassion for Veterans (ACV), I can tell you first hand how important this benefit is to our men and women serving our country. ACV does not duplicate the air transportation services provided to our injured veterans. Instead, we pride ourselves on being the safety net for our veterans when the federal government is unable to support their air transportation needs. Simply put, ACV gets the veteran to the best medical treatment options available in the country. This way he/she can have optimal recovery from their injures. Monthly, ACV provides an average of 500 free flights to veterans and their adversely affected family members to a variety of Therapeutic, Rehabilitative and Counseling Services that are not accessible in the veterans local community. These are mostly ambulatory clients on commercial carriers, but may include Medevac and Angel Flight(private plane volunteers). Requests for support often exceed the resources available to ACV, so we work tirelessly to solicite fundings and frequent flyer miles from a variety of sources. If you know of an individual or organization that would like to join in the delivery of these compassion flights, please contact the ACV office. www.aircompassionforveterans.org/donate

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

reading the many letters of thanks from the families that we support with these flights.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated to serving those who served their country. The staff is committed and dedicated to granting as many requests for support as possible. ACV is happy to report that 96% of all contributions goes to pay for these free flights to veterans.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

fulfill all veteran and family member requests for air transport no matter what generation they served in the United States military.

Ways to make it better...

the Federal Government (DoD/VA) would work in partnership with ACV so that fewer veterans missed out on need medical services that were only available outside of the veteran's local area.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Having enough resources to help every veteran request for air transporation.

Air Compassion is a wonderful partner for America's VetDogs. We provide assistance dogs and training to America's wounded heroes. Air Compassion helps us by providing transportation to our training center for veterans, and to veteran's home areas for our staff. Their important support and expertise allow us to apply our resources to provide more dogs. Thank you Air Compassion for Veterans

This is an amazing nonprofit that serves our countries wounded warriors and their adversely affected family members by providing free air transportation for specialized medical care, counseling and rehabilitation services. They have provided over 14,200 flights from 11/06 to 2-10. When our country sends these brave servicemen and women to protect our freedom, the least we can do is make sure they receive the finest treatment and care available and ACCESS to that care. That is what Air Compassion for Veterans does, and can do it within hours if there is an emergency.

Air Compassion for Veterans (ACV) is a service that our wounded will need for sometimes their entire life, especially those who suffer from PTSD amd TBI. 10 mil. will provide 5 years of free air transportation for our injured heroes.
