The shelter is a place where there are always needs to be met and if you sit and listen for a few minutes you can find out what they are, and if you watch the kids and how they are cared for, if you have any heart for kids at all you will want to meet some of those needs; It does not have to be big, just what you have the heart to do. Ive learned how to fix a screen door, hang pictures on the wall without having to find a stud in the wall just because it needed to be done and I had to ask how, and all the staff are glad to answer questions about what can and can not be done.

As a CASA, I can see the impact I have on a child, sometimes the influence can be subtle or dramatic, either way the experience changes you and the child.
Advocates has impacted the community positively; they have brought individuals together and then as a team creating changes that has
improved the life of a child.
You can volunteer enormous amounts of time or just a few moments; they are grateful that you are concerned about the welfare of a child. What better way to make your community better?

These folks are wonderful. I am proud to be a donor to this organization. My church is, also, a donor. I have always been kept apprised of all events. I have personal knowledge of their works and the kids they have helped. God bless Advocates for Children.

I have volunteered in several capacities over the past 10 years with this group and you will not find a charity more focused on providing life changing assistance, while trying to be the best possible stewards of the resources they have been trusted with. I am proud to be affilliated with them and consider the time spent there to be some of the best use of the time I have.

I first became involved with Advocates as a shelter volunteer soon after moving to the community. However, I was able to glimpse the bigger picture of the organization, and all it accomplished, as an intern on their Board of Directors as a part of our Chamber's Leadership class in 2006. I was immediately impressed with the level of commitment of each and every person I came in contact with! Having served on numerous boards in this community and others, I have to say that this organization outshines them all! Its mission, values and vision combine with immense dedication and good old-fashioned hard work to give the children and youth of our community hope for a brighter, safer, future.

The Great!

I have personally witnessed the benefits of this organization's efforts when working with the children at the shelter. They are offered a safe haven and unconditional love - some for the first time in their young lives!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I cannot think of a single way this organization could improve upon their effectiveness!

I always knew that Advocates had a children's shelter, but it was after I attended the Advo 101 Breakfast that I began to understand EVERYTHING Advocates for Bartow's Children does in this community. From the First Steps Program, to A Better Way Children's Advocacy Center, to their VolunTeen program and everything in between, Advocates truly helps all youth in this community. It's been an honor and a priviledge to volunteer for Advocates for Children and help raise awareness and finanical support for this outstanding community organization. It's a shame more people don't volunteer their time and/or donate funds to continue to help the organization grow and help even MORE children in need.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Simply being around the children who have benefited from the services of Advocates. It's terrible to hear some of these young children share what their living conditions were like before they moved into Flowering Branch Children's Shelter, or before they had a CASA. It's wonderful to have an organization like Advocates to help these children. Being able to visit the kids at the Shelter, play games, and cook dinner with them is a rewarding and eye opening experience every time.

Advocates for Children is an amazing organization with the sole mission of helping children that have faced unfortunate situations thrive in society. In addition to the 10+ programs they offer, from Rainbows to Flowering Branch Children's Shelter, their staff and volunteer programs are phenominal. Each and every person on staff and on the volunteer team pull together to ensure that every child that comes through their program is well cared for and feels loved. My family was drawn to this organization three years ago and initially helped with the annual Duck Durby; the most amazing event where you'll see everything from local performers and crafters to thousands of yellow ducks floating down the river - all to raise funds to assist with the operational costs of running Advocates. Since then we have enjoyed sharing our time by bringing dinner to the children at the shelter, supporting the annual Spring Benefit and of course, the very fun Duck Derby. Advocates is a very special organization that has helped hundreds of children thrive in a loving environment when they wouldn't have otherwise had that at home.

I have personally seen results of this organization when our family would bring dinner to the children at the shelter. Our daughters learned how to interact with the kids and were able to see them for the awesome kids they were rather than the life situations they had experienced. Advocates has taught my family more about loving others and offering talents and services than any other organization or experience.

If I had to make changes to this organization I would add more corporate sponsorships so their funding would increase and they could offer all they desire to.

Advocates for Bartow's Children is an organization that truly touches the hearts of everyone in the Bartow County community. The different programs offered are what gives hope and inspiration to a group of young people who haven't had the support and guidance that most of our young population has grown up with. I truly believe that if you want to be involved in a non-profit organization doing the best they can for the future of our community Advocates is the one to get involved in. It is truly rewarding to see the youth in this organization grow to be better people because of their programs.
