Advance Memphis is a wonderful ministry. Steve Nash and his staff have made a huge difference for the city of Memphis. They are changing lives with their financial literacy programs and job training classes. It has been a pleasure to get to know Steve and his fellow workers. I can't say enough good things about Advance!!!!!!

AdVance Memphis is a success story. Through the efforts and strong commitment of Steve Nash and his amazing and dedicated staff, AdVance Memphis is putting people in poverty to work and on the road to financial freedom. By focusing on the people in one neighborhood and their individual journeys, AdVance has achieved success that few economic development agencies can match. They have worked hard to get to know the neighbors and the neighborhood and their reputation there sets them apart. I cannot say enough good things about this amazing organization.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The fact that they are authentic. These are people who are immersed in this neighborhood and its people. They are a small organization with an entrepreneurial spirit willing to try new things to help the people they serve.

Advance Memphis is an established non-profit whose entire staff is devoted to advancing the kingdom one relationship at a time within the community. It is amazing to see the lives touched by Advance Memphis. Not only are lives touched within the community but also those that volunteer to serve with Advance. The building of relationships with the people of the community has really begun to transform the community as they seek hope and purpose for their lives. It has been amazing to see and hear different people within the community tell their story of how their lives have been changed by something/someone from Advance. I'm excited to be a part of a program that stays focused on serving others and fostering relationships that mean something.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing people coming through at Advance Memphis, learning job skills and then being hired by my employer.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

have the staff work along side volunteers that could help them strengthen their individual areas

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing lives change/grow and seeing hearts soften

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

driven, dedicated and selfless

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

further strengthen it's current programs to help "Advance" the members in the community even more

Ways to make it better...

I could personnally find the time to get more involved

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding during these unusual economic times

One thing I'd also say is that...

It's not only about having the money to operate a non-profit but also about people opening up their hearts to see what Advance Memphis is all about and then finding ways to get engaged

When I got involved at Advance Memphis several years ago, I naively believed that I would have a lot to offer the organization. On the contrary, the organization ended up teaching me and offering me so much. The staff and participants have done wonders to change my perspective about injustice and how to love and serve our under-resourced brothers and sisters. In my opinion, the greatest thing about Advance is the high standards that are set by the staff and the example that they are for the participants. The result has been a culture of excellence. Everything they do, they do thoroughly and do it well. There needs to be more groups like Advance, chipping away at systemic poverty - one relationship at a time. Best of all, everything they do is through the grid of a Gospel worldview.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

watching it grow!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the best around. They are there for a reason and truly love their constituency.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

focus more on development and less on having to raise funds. It can transform Memphis without $10M bucks...think about what it could do with $10M bucks.

Ways to make it better...

More people outside the neighborhood would take the time to visit and see what an impact is being made in 38126.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Donors that just write a check but don't show up and get involved...I'm as guilty as anyone.
