Our daughter Annie LOVES this camp, the counselors, the cabins, the activities, everything about it. She's always exhausted, happy, and ready to return when we pick her up. We wish, though, there was a 10-14 day camp for kids like her. She wants more independence as she gets older. Is that a possibility? You know these kids by now and know which ones would be good candidates for a longer camping/away from home experience. She'd also love mini-camps during the school year as Easter Seals does. Thanks, Sherry Bruff

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my child's independence, sense of self and self-worth. She comes home and folds her clothes as a counselor told her to do; I can't even get her to pick her things up from the floor! Good role modeling from the counselors!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Hi - My son has autism and has attended 2 camps when he was quite young. Very well organized, nice people but I think it is VERY expensive for what you get. And if you are expecting this camp to have a major difference in your special needs child's development, you would be better off spending that money on longer term therapy in a home setting. It is just unrealistic to think that an intensive week or two is going to make a big difference. It is a great camp if you are VERY wealthy but overrated in terms of therapeutic outcomes, in my humble opinion. The accommodation at Snow Valley Ranch is also pretty pricey. I think the organizers should focus on helping lower income people rather than just those who can afford luxury therapy.

Focus on lower income people. This is 'luxury therapy' for the rich. Like going to a swanky spa for a week.

Adam's Camp is a wonderful organization on many levels. Working at Camp is the highlight of my summer - every year. The quality of the staff and the opportunity to really impact others' lives is awesome. I feel the most significant contribution Adam's Camp makes is to the families and therapists who support the children and their development. The longer I am part of Adam's Camp, the deeper my appreciation of the impact Camp has on the lives of the families. I wish there were more quality opportunities for families in this population. I also appreciate the professional development that occurs throught the collaboration of therapists; I know I return from Camp with many new ideas that I incorporate into my regular practice.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the development of the Leadership program. I am so inspired after every session. The growth and devleopment of each Camper through their week is tremendous. And the reports we hear after Camp demonstrate that the learning does go home and continues to improve the quality of the Camper's life.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The collaborative approach. Using professionals from a variety of disciplines - respecting all viewpoints - only benefits the client families.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Wonderful.. All truly dedicated to bringing the best to Camp.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Sow the seeds of Adam's Camp throughout the nation (and world!)
