Studying with Marc Clopton gave me the courage to bring to life the characters I had read through and visualized in decades of being an English Major and careful deep reader. My imagination could express itself. It helped me open up to express my feelings and introduced me to some other wonderfully open people. We all blossomed together and would not have known each other without this studio.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Finding other compatible people caring about the arts and social issues. Becoming an actress.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Develop ways to increase attendance

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Performing

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Terrific!! I am one.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Do more outreach to underserved groups, seniors, low income children and adults who might possess the talent for artistic success but can't afford to come to us now.

Ways to make it better...

I could have afforded to come more often

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Maintaining itself during these tight times

The Actors Studio of Newburyport and its founder Marc Clopton have cultivated the arts community in Newburyport for years, training actors and other theater people, producing high quality work, and providing a venue of good theater and other arts performances. The Actors Studio of Newburyport, however, provides more than just training and a place to be. It is the focus of an extensive community, with fans from Maine down to Boston, that collaborate, perform, write and learn together and then extend their influence through playwrighting and performance to places all across this country. Without that focal point, the work of building culture can be a lonely one and more apt to die than flourish. We are an enviable community, and it is due to the work of the Actors Studio.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The community it has engendered. I participate in arts community in larger cities, and they have nothing to compare in the way of an active community.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Oh, wow. What I suspect would happen is that this group would seek to interwork with other similar arts groups, sharing resources, talent, skills. I know that the idea for this -- cooperating with a network of small city theaters -- is part of the dream.

Ways to make it better...

....well, the Actors Studio is turning a corner on becoming a viable non-profit, but the key will be getting sustaining donors and grants. The more that grows, the more programs will be possible.

One thing I'd also say is that...

You should come visit what they are doing.
