The Actor's Studio of Newburyport has provided me with a creative community and ongoing inspiration for ten years. It is one of the richest arts' centers I have ever encountered as there are classes, workshops and performances in music, theater and dance. There are unique celebrations and awareness-raising events, community building experiences, and gatherings of indescribable spiritual intensity. The Actor's Studio is a place of growth and healing for hundreds of people on a regular basis and thousands every year. Where would we be without it? This is the heart of the nonprofit offering!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Expanded awareness; education; interest in new forms of art, social action and spirituality....

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Help it find more funding!

Studying with Marc Clopton gave me the courage to bring to life the characters I had read through and visualized in decades of being an English Major and careful deep reader. My imagination could express itself. It helped me open up to express my feelings and introduced me to some other wonderfully open people. We all blossomed together and would not have known each other without this studio.

Terrific!! I am one.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Do more outreach to underserved groups, seniors, low income children and adults who might possess the talent for artistic success but can't afford to come to us now.

Ways to make it better...

I could have afforded to come more often

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Maintaining itself during these tight times

The Actor's Studio has changed my life and has enriched my life. I have taken classes that have had a profound effect on my life. I have participated in performances, readers theater, and attended many performances. We are very lucky to have such a venue in our city. Whenever/however I can I want to support this organization.

Exceptional and creatively challenging productions are the hallmark of the Actor's Studio of Newburyport. I have never, in all the years of attending productions as an audience member and community supporter, been disapointed. Actor's Studio is an essential component of the area's artistic talent in playrighting, acting and directing, and a staple of the North Shore...long live the Actor's Studio and Marc Clopton's artistic vision and leadership!

The Actor's Studio of Newburyport is where I, as an actress, through the teaching principles espoused by Marc Clopton, learned how to once and for all toss off my bad acting habits, and instead, became able to access my own organic process. In addition, the Actor's Studio enables performers to keep their acting muscle in shape through the offerings of other teachers as well as being a venue for playwrights' work. A little gem in this seaside town....

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The core community of performers and their ability to grow through the acting training offered

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Attract and pay directors and playwrights from other areas to showcase their talents as well as provide more diverse opportunities for actors

The Actors Studio of Newburyport and its founder Marc Clopton have cultivated the arts community in Newburyport for years, training actors and other theater people, producing high quality work, and providing a venue of good theater and other arts performances. The Actors Studio of Newburyport, however, provides more than just training and a place to be. It is the focus of an extensive community, with fans from Maine down to Boston, that collaborate, perform, write and learn together and then extend their influence through playwrighting and performance to places all across this country. Without that focal point, the work of building culture can be a lonely one and more apt to die than flourish. We are an enviable community, and it is due to the work of the Actors Studio.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The community it has engendered. I participate in arts community in larger cities, and they have nothing to compare in the way of an active community.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Oh, wow. What I suspect would happen is that this group would seek to interwork with other similar arts groups, sharing resources, talent, skills. I know that the idea for this -- cooperating with a network of small city theaters -- is part of the dream.

Ways to make it better...

....well, the Actors Studio is turning a corner on becoming a viable non-profit, but the key will be getting sustaining donors and grants. The more that grows, the more programs will be possible.

One thing I'd also say is that...

You should come visit what they are doing.
