4 weeks after my husband lost both of his legs in Iraq, representatives from the Achilles Track Club came to his hospital room and suggested he come out to participate in a hand crank bike race. A week later they invited him to race in the New York Marathon. As it turns out, what they actually invited him to do was become part of a new family. To date, my husband has completed 1 full marathon and 2 half marathons with this amazing club. They gave him hope and focus, and they gave me a way to connect with other wives and mothers who understood what I was going through. They inspire people to stand up and live their best lives in the face of devastating adversity and that is truly a gift.

Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Soldiers has transformed people whose lives have been torn apart by war and who have had the courage to stand up when America called for defense of its borders. The commitment of the organization to the wounded servicemen and women is simply amazing for giving back the lives to these men and women injured serving in our nation's Armed Services.
