Achievement House Thrift Stores are great to shop at. I have been in the Lompoc location and its clean with great bargains and good location. i also love their store in San Luis Obispo. The individuals who work their seem happy and helpful. They help unload my donations and are helpful with my finding a unique item I'm searching for. They also take my old TV's and computer stuff without charging and they recycle them. They have shredded documents for a low fee, all in all they are great and I feel good working with them.

I see them working in Pismo and Avila Beach. Their stores are great.

Miss_IIene,
By chance we (Achievement House) happened to find your review regarding Achievement House and the thrift store in Lompoc. As a nonprofit agency, that provides meaningful employment for developmental disabled adults and weights heavily on community support, we take customer service
very seriously. Unfortunately your complaints were not received by our Executive Director or anyone else on our administrative team. In the December 2010 storm, our administration office in San Luis Obispo lost all utilities due to a fallen tree. To date those utilities have yet to be restored and our administrative office is still displaced. Not offering excuses just explaining as to why it may have been and continue to be difficult to contact our administrative office.
With that said please except my apology for the unpleasant experience that you encountered with our staff. Please believe that customer service is a strongly stressed at our monthly mandatory training. Unfortunately due continual budgets cuts to our funding we are unable to hire an administrator for each location. However, I personally will address your complaint with the staff mentioned in your complaint and her immediate supervisor.
In closing, it greatly saddens my heart to know that you would go to such great measures to defame an agency that does such great work over one unpleasant experience. Achievement House has been providing services for over 50 years and has a very reputable reputation. Should you feel the need to discuss this matter further please feel free to contact via email @ ccullors@nciaffiliates.org.
Sincerely,
Crissy Cullors
Personnel Services Coordinator,

I made two attempts to submit a complaint to the management about services, and have not been responded to. I have attempted to contact the Board of Directors, and cannot find their information on the website. Here is the email I sent:
******************************************************
(name removed name for confidentiality purposes),

I have also sent a message to your executive director, with no response to date. I had a very unfortunate interaction with one of your staff at the Lompoc store today. I believe the name of staff who was rude is "(name removed for confidentiality purposes)"; not one of the clients. I went up to make a purchase, and the item was marked as $2.00. Lily became very upset over the pricing, and came close to accusing me of switching prices from another item, in front of and clear ear shot of other customers! Then, refused to sell the item to me at the price posted on it. When I pointed out to her that that action was illegal on her part, she simply shrugged and said, "sorry".
This is customer service at it's absolute worst. I am a regular shopper at the local thrift stores. Your establishment is off my list now, and I will be sharing this information with anyone who asks me about a shopping experience at Achievement House.
My recommendation: (name removed for confidentiality purposes) needs some customer service training, and additionally, needs to be educated as to the legal responsibilities of a shopkeeper. I expect to receive a response from you and/or the executive director; if none is forthcoming, my next action will be to contact your Board, along with advising the Better Business Bureau, Charity Navigator and the Chamber of Commerce charity web site of this appalling behavior.

Regards,

The Great!
