I have 3 children learning in the program. I see the way they develope their oral and written skills in English although they speak Hebrew most of the time, and appreciate the teachers very much for what they do. Gaila - Well done!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

listening to my children talk English, and whatch them fight over the computer to read stories in English.

I have four kids who learned English with A.H.A.V.A.. The oldest one graduated the program two years ago and is doing very well at Junior high now. She is reading books at a high level with full comprehension and copes with writing assignments easily. Her improved writing skills which she had acquired in A.H.A.V.A's program are implemented on assignments in other languages as well(Hebrew). The younger three kids (ranging from 1st grade to 6th grade)are still in the program and enjoy it very much. The young graders learn through story and play. Their writing skills are reinforced with book tasks and exciting projects appropriate for each age group. For example, in first grade they write the "ME BOOK" in which they compose sentences about their own world and illustrate it themselves. This is a project which is proudly presented in the annual academic fair at the end of the school year.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the sense of satisfaction and confidence which my children have thanks to the program

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

people from the community who volunteered their time to help with my children's reading difficulties using the method of "Great Leaps"

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

a. expand its services to more children in the community, b. have better physical conditions in which the learning takes place 3. purchase more and newer school games to enable better and more attractive teaching methods.

Ways to make it better...

a. Classes would take place in a better location b. school materials (i.e. games and books etc.) would be newer and more attractive.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

fundraising

One thing I'd also say is that...

If it wasn't for A.H.A.V.A. my children would not be as successful in the academic achievements

A.H.A.V.A. is an organization that I founded to help promote English Literacy in Israel. Too often children do not get the necessary English within the school system in order to be able to go on towards higher education. Our goal is to ensure that if a child wants to learn English they will be able to, even if he has learning difficulties, lives in the periphery, or his parents have financial limitations. It gives me great satisfaction to watch a child develop her English DESPITE all the stumbling blocks in her path. We now have students who started with us in Kindergarten and are at the top of their class in Junior High. I look forward to watching them graduate University as our top chemists, engineers, doctors, sociologists, psychologists, etc.... They are the future of our country, our future Nobel Prize winners. A.H.A.V.A. is only limited by our donations as to how many children we can reach. Supporting A.H.A.V.A. is supporting Israel's future!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

is seeing children learn to speak and read English. It is like magic....

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

fantastic. Every volunteer and staff member gives above and beyond what they need to do. Often, I only find out at the end of the year that a teacher has been tutoring a child on the side or adding a quarter hour to her class.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach thousands and thousands more students in Israel.

Not enough stars for me to fill!!! The school is recommencding Ritalin for my kids and yet at A.H.A.V.A. my children are reading and writing English in just one year. Both the course and teaching has been excellent but its the confidence in the children which has been great to see, where the school system has let them down A.H.A.V.A has shown them what they can achieve when education works.A gift for life.Cant recommend it enough. I have been extremely impressed over the years at the amazing impact A.H.A.V.A. has had on the lives of its participants. It's is simply inspiring to see how children who are afraid to say "hello" in English at the beginning of the year are transformed into children who write and perform in a play in English at the end of the year! Thank you for your amazing work!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

how talented and passionate the leadership is and how effective the program is.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

enable tens of thousands of low-income Israeli children to gain the education they need to break out of poverty.
