Our nonprofit had the privilege of working with A Face to Reframe. As we work with clients who can often be disenfranchised and who often experience stigma, this was an important opportunity to provide a venue of expression for clients that often does not exist. Additionally, this project provided insight for us into some of our clients' struggles and successes. This group appeared to be therapeutic to some of the clients involved. A Face to Reframe did a great job of adapting to the needs and lifestyles of our clients. This was exemplified by the facilitator's ability to adapt to communication styles and to the beliefs and values of our clients. I would highly recommend collaborating with A Face to Reframe, particularly for the reason that clients are provided with a refreshing venue of expression. We will definitely keep A Face to Reframe in mind for the future.

AFTR is innovative, genuine, creative, and effective in journeying with, celebrating the dignity of, and giving voice to the typically underprivileged, under-served, voiceless, and/or unrecognized. This organization is an agent of change in the direct lives of people and uses the simple yet open-ended tool of photography to do it.

AFTR gives dignity to those ignored and hurt by society by allowing them to share their feelings and world. We are enlightened about their needs and moved to help more. It's a unique framework for connecting at-risk youth and adults with those able to help.

Picture the value of connecting with community organizations that work with at-risk youth, homeless youth, women and children being victimized, the AIDS population....and giving their clients cameras to take pictures of their lives, cameras to give them a voice, cameras so they can take charge of their own future and make changes in their lives and their cause. A Face to Reframe has done just this. They have been able to reach a population, that has been hard to reach and make a significant difference with, and have made a difference. A Face to Reframe has empowered this population, has given them a voice and encouragement through the use of a camera. A Face to Reframe has helped community organizations better understand and serve their population through their joint work. Please go to A Face to Reframe.org to read more.

AFTR has mastered the ability of communicating the complexity of life through the simplicity of one photo. As Founder and Director of the U COUNT Campaign, an anti-human trafficking organization, I have found it a privilege to meet Beth Bruno and find that we share the similar desire to bring dignity and respect to the oppressed and often forgotten members of our global community. I appreciate Beth's bold courage, intentionality and vision to change the world, one life at a time!

AFTR's work is about touching individual people and about changing the way all of us see each other. I have been watching it from a distance and seeing the photographs made by the programs' participants - all of whom are socially invisible in their communities - changes the way I look at the people near me. Who am I not seeing? How does the world look to them? AFTR has the power to effect profound change by challenging how all of us think.

A Face to Reframe partnered with the organization that I work for, Prax(us), to provide an intensive participatory photography clinic to the youth with whom we work who are in or vulnerable to domestic human trafficking situations. AFTR did an amazing job in developing, implementing, and following up with the workshop. I was very impressed with Beth's dedication and flexibility in working with a population that is very difficult to recruit and engage in projects like this. I truly appreciate AFTR's mission to help marginalized folks become the authors of their own stories through photography.

A Face to Reframe is tackling the root issue of poverty and injustice by empowering the powerless and allowing their faces to be seen in a way that restores their God-given dignity, value and worth.

Through partnership with organizations in developing countries, AFTR is uniting the
global community. Through establishment of specific AFTR projects in the states, AFTR is raising awareness of human trafficking that is occurring in our own back yard.

I have read many reviews of many non-profits, and what I look for before donating to one is integrity. Will they use my money the way they say they will?

I can assure you, A Face to Reframe will.

As a personal friend of Beth Bruno, the founder of A Face to Reframe, I am convinced
of her passion and self-sacrifice to enable a voice for the voiceless, and a perspective from those who have been silenced.

There is nothing that gives hope to the soul like being listened to. Putting a camera in someone's hand gives them a voice. A Face to Reframe listens and amplifies.

As founder and director of the work known as Kardelen in Turkey, I am so grateful that Beth Bruno and AFTR came and facilitated an absolutely mind-blowing and amazing week with poor children struggling with physical disabilities, their siblings, Kardelen service team members and yours truly. Some of these awesome children testified at the end of the week that their felt differently about life as a result of having participated, but we as adults can honestly say we feel so different about these kids and their gifted-ness, honesty, emotional vulnerability and passion to tell their stories. Beth drew so much out of all of us and left us with the skill and excitement about carrying on this project again with more kids.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I listened to the kids tell their stories and describe the why's and why-nots' of their photos. Saw their pure joy when they were handed certificates at the end of the week as well as their reluctance to leave the Streams of Mercy Center on Friday afternoon. They begged (as did we) Beth to come back!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Can't think of a thing I'd change but give me some time. I'll come up with a suggestion or two:)
