I was introduced to 5 For Fairness last year. I had just returned from doing human rights work in the The Congo and was trying to raise money for the amazing organization, Man Up-- a global youth initiative that helps discover solutions to stop violence against women and young girls. My freind Helen Bartlett told me about 5 For Fairness and introduced me to Anna McDonnell and her son Eliot. Eliot had submitted Man Up in the 5 For Fairness grant competition. Although MU came in second, awareness was raised not only regarding the Man Up campaign but about the horrific violence happening in the Congo.

This is a great charity. It offers the opportunity for everyone to participate, actively, in choosing what causes they think are worthy, and to lobby fellow members to vote for the one they believe in most. It educates us while helping others. It is empowering to belong to this group.

I have been active in charitable organizations for many years, both as a volunteer and a donor.
What I particularly admire about 5forFairness is it's egalitarian nature. No one member is any more important than any other.
And it is a model of efficiency. All the money that is donated goes
directly to the recipient, and it's reach is truly global.

"Thirty years after the adoption of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), many girls and women still do not have equal opportunities to realize rights recognized by law. In many countries, women are not entitled to own property or inherit land. Social exclusion, “honor” killings, female genital mutilation, trafficking, restricted mobility and early marriage among others, deny the right to health to women and girls and increase illness and death throughout the life-course.

We will not see sustainable progress unless we fix failures in health systems and society so that girls and women enjoy equal access to health information and services, education, employment and political positions."

— Dr Margaret Chan, Director-General, World Health Organization, Equal rights and opportunities for women and girls essential for better health, International Women’s Day, March 8, 2010"

Need I say anything more! 5 for Fairness is fixing failures in our society so girls all over can be given a helping hand.

I love the concept of 5 for Fairness because it encompasses a large community and raises awareness about important issues for women. Their approach is creative and simple and allows people who have $5 and a desire to help women make a difference!

I have seen grants go toward organizations that have tangible funding needs and really impact women's lives.

I would make it so that people can text a number and donate in a quicker way rather than donate by credit card! (Although I don't mind paying by credit card)

5 for Fairness was started by a good a friend of mine who consistantly makes a difference in the world... she has 3 sons and I truly believe this nonprofit project is her "daughter". Anna has gathered people into 5 for Fairness to help make a change in young women's lives that would not have had an opportunity to get assistance without us. Each member of 5 for Fairness can feel their $5 has not only helped a woman in need but their donation and vote allows them to feel altrustic in the humblest sense.

5 for Fairness is an innovative site that allows you to be part of a wonderful community that supports the rights of girls all around the world. It's easy to join, easy to participate, and the results are clear and immediate. All the funds raised go to directly to the needy, and you are a part of choosing which organization to support, how the money gets directed. I love being a part of a charity organization that is grass roots, participatory, informative, lean, as well as organically educational. I couldn't recommend it more.

The organisation is very based on the importance of team work and collective support, It promotes contests to give $5000 grants to outstanding projects focuses on girls and women.
