The 109 Pcnt Community Council just keeps improving with time like a fine vintage wine. It is so important that the community works simultaneously with the precinct. I've been attending these meeting off and on for about ten years and they have always been good but these ladies have brought a breath of fresh air which was needed to the precinct meetings. The monthly presentations are awesome and there are various workshops held to educate the people. This group of staff members do address the issues and help improve the situations presented. The staff is wonderful on every level as well as the precinct staff. We must not forget the incredible refreshments given at the meetings. Keep up the wonderful humantarian work and the best of luck for many years to come.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

bringing neighborhood ssues to the precinct and having them resolved.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I think they're doing a wonderful job, at this point the only change I'd make is getting a larger room. The meetings have actually become standing room only!

I feel the need to stress the importance of the community having a relationship with the police precinct and its members that protect and serve us. That is why it is vital for each precinct to have a community council within. I am fortunate enough to live in the 109th precinct and participate in community activities that are sponsored by the 109th community council. The council holds monthly public meetings with guest speakers such as political leaders to local businessmen with the sole interest of making changes in the community. Throughout the year, the council sponsors family holiday events, blood drives, vin etching for your vehicles, museum trips and is always in contact with the community via their vast e-mail list. The council members as well as the officers of the 109th, will always take time to answer questions and help solve local issues.

The 109th Precinct represents the neighborhoods of downtown Flushing, East Flushing, Queensboro Hill, College Point, Malba, Whitestone, Beechhurst and Bay Terrace.

The 109th Precinct Community Council has worked diligently to improve the quality of life for residents and their families
within these ethnically and culturally diverse neighborhoods.

I represent the 25th Assembly District, which spans six police precincts, and can attest to the dedication of the 109th Precinct Community Council. The Council's community outreach projects, such as the Relay for Life fundraiser that supports the American Cancer Society, the National Night out Against Crime, and the Thanksgiving and Christmas fund-raising drives to help those that are less fortunate enjoy the holidays with their family, make a major contribution to our community.

They meet every month to ensure that that the needs and concerns of the community are heard and addressed. I am proud to represent the 109th Precinct Community Council, where everyday they strive for excellence and their achievements and accomplishments are appreciated by all.

The Community Council of the 109th precinct does a great job for the flushing area. They help out the less privileged especially in the holiday season by holding events for the kids where they are given gifts and a free lunch with food and drinks donated by local members and businesses . I am the GM of the Marco LGA Hotel and have been contacted a few times when family's where in need of accommodation due to unfortunate circumstances and when reached out to by the council i thought it was nice of them to try an help these family's and was able to accommodate them until they were able to find a place to stay.

The 109th Pct Community Council is a great asset to our community. They have monthly meetings and community outreach programs that keep community members up to date with all public safety issues occurring in our Police Precinct.

I believe that the 109 Pct Community Council will greatly
benefit being awarded a grant for their continued great work. It is organization like the 109 Pct Community Council that help bring our communities together and make our streets safer.

I have lived within the confines of the l09th Police Community Council’s jurisdictions since 1954 and have been keenly
aware of Its contribution to the security of the greater Flushing neighborhood since 1986, when I opened my New York

City Council office just doors away from the
Station House.

With due respect to all of the hundreds of volunteers who participated in the monthly meetings of the 109th Precinct
Community Council since that time, I am moved to say that the innovations introduced in the quality of the meetings
since Chrissy and Vana assumed leadership of the Council have made it the outstanding organization of all volunteer
groups in our community, in my opinion. And there are many volunteer groups here .
They each deserve commendation for the noble causes they support and the hard work they freely give as they pursue their goals.

But none of them issue e-mailed copies of the detailed minutes of the meeting just concluded, to the folks who want to keep Informed about the events which occur, from month to month, within the Police Precinct’s territory.. No other group has made itself the reporter of a monthly calendar of planned programs for any local organization wishing to avail itself of this free advertisement; the annual bus trips with dinners, which take interested Council participants to the
Manhattan Police Museum serve a desireable educational function about the Police Department for our constituents; the

Night Out Against Crime this year saw more than 2,000 residents participating in the events of the evening – an
undisputed record testifying to the quality of the offering and a most impressive demonstration of the Council’s
organizational abilities and outreach; and bringing speakers of note to the Council’s monthly meetings serves as a
unifying force between the Police Department and other New York City agencies and bureaus. A good example is the
introduction of Councilman Peter Vallone, Jr., Chair of the Public Safety Committee, to the assembled attendees for
one of its recent programs.

For these and many other similar examples of the creative talents and accomplishments of this group, I heartily endorse
the l09th Precinct Community Council to be the recipient of the $5,000.00 Guide Star is offering.

The 109th Precinct Community Council serves a very important community connection by bringing together neighbors, seniors, city services, politicians, social supports, and the officers of the 109th. The meetings promote strong community links that create a quality of life which benefits all. The council also creates an opportunity for the community to participate in numerous neighborhood activities which they may not have been aware existed. Because of the council, the community is informed of safety issues, what the 109th Precinct is responding to in effort to curtail crime, political views, what's happening for children, who to contact, health info, other community meetings, and the list could go on. The 109th Precinct Community Council embodies community at it's very best.

The 109th Precinct Community Council is run by a generous group of people who volunteer their free time to provide great services to our community. Their monthly meetings help the people get to know their local precinct, which covers a very large geographic area. As an Assemblyman whose district is protected by the 109th precinct, I appreciate the community council’s hard work to connect the police with my constituents. Having these meetings to reach out to the community is very important in keeping our neighborhoods safe because it creates a relationship where community and police can trust each other and work together.

Although I am newly elected, in the short time I have been in office, I can already attest to the many good works of the Community Council. The council is very involved in the community and participates in a variety of important events throughout the year, including the Annual Night Out Against Crime, which is one of the largest of any local precincts. I support the 109th Precinct Community Council and I hope many of my constituents will join me in expressing their gratitude for this wonderful organization.

The 109th has done a tremendous job in opening its heart and arms in embracing everyone within and even outside of its perimeter. You are always welcomed into the precinct! Point in fact we hold a huge Halloween open house party, where many children as well as their parents have never ever set foot inside a precinct except perhaps in a time of trouble. The atonishing look of wonder when they made welcomed and embraced by the precinct speaks for itself. For many of of our diversified ethnic residents this proves a first step in coming to our monthly meetings where they have been embraced and felt welcomed. Children have enjoyed meeting the Deputy Inspector, and the officers of this wonderful precinct. This feeling of warmth has brought forth a very positive relationship between the Police Department and its residents. As a resident in my community I have personally gotten more involved with the precinct. I will volunteer whenever they ask, be it National Night Out, Halloween, our Annual BBQ for the community, or helping to set up for our monthly meetings at the precinct house. I am always walking by the station house and chatting with the officers and wishing them a great safe day. As the Validictorian of the Civilian Police Academy 2009 Class I feel a need to help protect and defend our Precinct House and those officers who so unselflessly give of themselves and put their live on the line so that we are safe. While these fine men and woman of the 109 Police Precinct come to work everyday so many people might say its a 9-5 job and they go home. Not at this precinct, to them its more than a job! Their hearts and souls are in my community and I could never show enough appreciation for what they do everyday. My Council leaders are also a very strong group of men and woman who take so much time out of their own busy working and personal lives to continually invent and implement new ideas to achieve those goals. They have guest speaks who come in and educate us during our monthly meetings. We have been educated against credit card fraud, stolen vehicle alerts, vin etching, repeat offenders, insurance classes, they have arranged for distingushed New York City and State leaders to come and speak at our meetings (Senator Padavan, John Liu, Peter Koo, Bill Halloran, District Attorney's Office to just name a new). They have arranged yearly trips for the comunity to go to the Police Museum. They want to achieve more for our community. We have teenagers that we need to reach so that we make sure they stay out of trouble and be successful adults in our community. We also need to never forget or ignore assisting the elderly, and the less fortunate who need a hand up and not a hand out. By helping our precinct you help our community, and together we remain strong and united.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the growing number of our ethnic community attending National Night Out. I have also witnessed the growing number of community residents coming to our monthly meetings. The precinct has heard my concerns and has helped in cutting down the amount of drunken and card playing Day Labors in my immediate area.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

want this organization to receive some additional funding so that they could employ canine dogs to help assist officers in patroling the busy downtown flushing area. I would also like to see additional funding so that the precinct could expand its house by buying the land that is for sale right next door and start up more out reach projects to the teenagers, elderly and the homeless.

More feedback...

Would you volunteer for this group again?

Definitely

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

Life-changing

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Very Well

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

Definitely

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

I wish they had more funding so that we could assist more of the individuals at need. i.e. Coat drives, school supplies, can goods, christmas presents for underprivileged and those in need.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

Made wonderful friends at the precinct; and got to meet other community members that attend my events. I t has also made me take a renewed interest in my community, and to get involved.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

This experience makes me feel wonderful that I am giving back and assisting every way I can.
