Reviews for Wounded Wear Inc

Rating: 1 stars

Poorly run organization that will drop a donor or volunteer if they ask to many questions. They have forgotten who their support has been over the years. They dropped one of their original sponsors this year, for their yearly formal just so they could have a larger named manufacturer be a sponsor in the same field. Bad business. The CEO preaches leadership, but employs bad hiring practices, consistently talks about his staff and makes fun of volunteers.

Donated a lot of time and over 30k to this organization to find out that it is a toxic organization that treats its donors poorly if you question their intentions. The CEO absolutely is a novice and sorrounds himself with YES people. Do not donate to this organization. Plus what viable organization changes their name?

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Fire the CEO

With the abundance of charities, wounded wear is the org that is truly grass roots. It was inspired by a soldier who leveraged his sacrifice and experiences as a wounded veteran to raise awareness of the many wounded veterans who are not on the public radar any longer. Far to many wounded veterans are left to alone to contend with injuries and a new life after the conflict. I applaud Mr. Redman's mission to raise awareness for those still fighting the silent battle of recovery.
Overcome!

I had the opportunity of being introduced to Wounded Wear through events I was competing in. After doing a little bit of research on my own I decided to reach out directly to the organization. Not only did I received a quick communication from them but I was connected directly with Jason Redman himself to speak, that in itself said a lot to me. Through supporting them and I only wish it was far more then what it has been I have had the real ability to learn and experience their Mission & Vision in action. I have even been given the opportunity to be a part of all that they do and what they are doing for our Military, Veterans and their families. This is an organization that I will support for the rest of my life because they are truly passionate about the cause, about the people and about showing others you have so much to give no matter what the circumstances are.

Wounded Wear is by far the greatest organization out there, they don't get as much spotlight time as WWP, and thats simple because, WWP advertises wounded warriors and parades them around the world, while Wounded Wear is more worried about the actual warrior and helps them in the background with more things like fixing our clothes, rebuilding our family and friends instead of giving us stainless steel water bottles......

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

More advertising to get more wounded warriors on board

This is a rip off. According to guidestar only 16.5% goes to charity.

I would avoid this one with all due haste until their CEO coughs up how much money goes into his pockets.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Investigate the CEO for fraud.

I have been a volunteer with Wounded Wear for over three years now and have seen the direct impact on our wounded warriors. The organization is about the warriors, not themselves. They run a top-shelf, organized, and strategic volunteer faction with few paid employees. The employees who are paid earn far less than they would in the "civilian" sector and volunteer as much if not more than their paid hours. I highly recommend finding an event to serve as a volunteer in order to see the profound impact they are making at a local and national level. Amen to Jason Redman, the wounded SEAL who founded this organization and to his wife, Erica who continues to support her husband and thousands of wounded men and women.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Add other locations across the US to expand their reach

I cant say enough good things about Wounded Wear. The man that runs it Jason Redman is a TOTAL inspiration and a leader. He is lucky to be alive today and his will to live brought him where he is today. Providing specialty made clothes for Wounded Warriors and rebuilding the Warrior Within.

This outfit here is Truly a God Send. They have so many events for Wounded Warriors and Gold Star families. If you ever wanted to donate to a TRUE Good Non Profit this is it......10 Stars for sure.

Outstanding organization founded by a special forces (Navy) operator who never wanted this job as a non-profit leader. His severe wounds sustained in combat seemed to be more than enough to kill his spirit if not his body. But the enemy failed. Jason Redman is alive and well and getting better and better at what he does now: raising awareness so that OTHERS might have hope if they've been wounded in battle.

Meeting the Wounded Wear team for the first time in Chicago was amazing. A group of fellow wounded warriors and I were asked to give our names for a clothing kit. I received that kit a few weeks later in the mail and was simply amazed. In the coming year I have grown to know J and Erica and what they do. I was then invited to Jump for a Purpose to honor our heroes and what we have sacrificed. The mental toughness that I see in J has inspired me to want to do more. He is a true leader and someone to emulate. His organization reflects a great value on helping his fellow brothers and sisters. Every time I leave from a meeting with them, I am left with a deeper positive impact knowing they are always there for any of us. If you are a civilian seeking understanding to learn of the sacrifices of our heroes you got it. If you are a wounded soldier, they will never let you down in being right there for you with tremendous programs of support and belonging.
