Chanticleer was founded in 1978 by Louis Botto as America's only full-time professional, a cappella choral ensemble. The twelve male singers who make up Chanticleer are all paid a full-time year-round salary. Chanticleer performs an annual home season in the Bay Area, and tours extensively nationally and internationally. Chanticleer also brings the gift of choral music to students throughout the Bay Area through its "Singing in the Schools" program, which is expanding nationally. Chanticleer's wide musical range includes Renaissance and Baroque, contemporary classical, choral, gospel and jazz.
Chanticleer's operating programs include: (1) Home Season, consisting of some 2 dozen concerts, 4 different programs in the Greater SF Bay Area. (2) Touring, presenting over 100 concerts annually worldwide; and (3) Singing in the Schools, offering workshops and concerts in schools annually.

Through the power of music Chanticleer lifts spirits. Chanticleer's programs and recordings spread the soul-enriching quality of music. Through their educational programs many young people and adults benefit. The group is superlative! The excellence of their work reaches world-wide. My spirit is lifted at every program. Music changes lives for the better.
