Saffyre Sanctuary is a rescue and rehabilitation program that cares for horses that have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. By allowing them to rediscover their true nature, we provide every opportunity for them to explore the possibility of enjoying a second career, or offer them a well deserved retirement due to soundness issues, age, or owner hardships. Saffyre Sanctuary assists homeless horses in finding their forever person. Through our networks, we successfully place them in homes that give them a new lease on life. If they are unable to physically perform in their new life path, we try to find other loving places where they can live in peace and comfort or serve as companion equines. Saffyre Sanctuary specializes in rescuing horses that would have no other chance of being saved. These horses are ones that have behavior issues, or are in need of a lengthy recovery and complex rehabilitation procedures. Our focus on quality, not quantity, enables us to give the horses in our care the very best chance of complete physical, mental and emotional recovery. Our unique approach of equine care specializes in holistic nutrition, holistic rehabilitation, environmentally friendly equine housing, and green facility management. Although Saffyre Sanctuary is an all-breed rescue, we have a special place in our hearts to the plight and distinctive needs of the Arabian breed. We are one of very few rescue organizations that works with Arabians, and maintains a following of Arabian enthusiasts who are familiar with their unique disposition. If you are looking to add an Arabian to your home, please consider adopting or fostering one of our loving horses. Volunteer opportunities are provided to children and the community, which emphasize the importance of proper equine care, ownership responsibility, and the consequences of neglect. Through the interaction with our horses, participants learn empathy, compassion, cooperation, and trust. But most importantly, how to understand their nature and become one with them and the world we share.

Our ultimate goal is to create an environmentally friendly equine facility that will set a nationwide standard in animal husbandry, including but not limited to holistic nutrition, rehabilitation, equine housing, and green facility management. Educational programs are provided free to children and the community, which emphasize the importance of proper care, ownership responsibility, and the consequences of neglect. Included are donor supported sponsorship programs which will allow inner city children and under privileged families to assist in the care and rehabilitation of the resident horses. Hopefully, the education provided will assist us in raising pubic awareness on issues concerning proper equine care and irresponsible breeding practices. Some future employees of Saffyre Sanctuary will be students who are enrolled in various extension programs and are interested in gaining work experience in the agriculture and animal husbandry industry. The experience the students have while participating in this program will assist them in making the transition from school to work and will allow them to develop skills that will be transferable to any farm in the future. We have the vision and the mission in place, but we cannot do this without financial assistance.

Saffyre Sanctuary has worked non-stop to save, rehabilitate, and re-home Arabian horses in California, and in the surrounding southwest states. Integrated care in feeding, veterinary and medical treatment, emotional cognitive interventions, and therapeutic plans for rebuilding the horse's body and soul, are a few key ways Saffyre Sanctuary functions as a go-to resource for neglected, abused, relinquished, or rescued horses, and for the people who participate in the world of horse management. Saffyre Sanctuary also provides education and training sessions in equine counseling, and awareness training for human partners to learn more about themselves, while working with saving horses. Foundational understanding and knowledge of the Arabian horse is well situated in the applied philosophy of Saffyre Sanctuary. This non-profit is key in both the current status of horse care, and in the future by modeling standards for equine recovery. B. Littleton, Professor & Clinical Therapist.
Saffyre Sanctuary is a safe haven and awe-inspiring rescue ranch founded and led by an incredible horsewoman and caretaker Esta Bernstein. Esta understands that each horse has different needs and gives them the specific care they require and deserve. She goes above and beyond for the horses' emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual needs. The horses receive excellent nutrition, lots of grooming, great turn-out time and socialization and always look clean, happy, and healthy when I've been there.
First of all Olivia 15 get a life, obviously you don't have one right now. I have done enough research to know Saffyre sanctuary is an institution with people doing what very few people do, that is giving love and a chance to horses someone else didn't give that chance to. It takes special people to understand that animals have thoughts, feelings like humans. My wife and I adopt all our animals, some with existing medical conditions. We are able to adopt these animals because of organizations such as Saffyre and he people who staff them. Keep up the excellent work and ignore people like Olivia 15
I do not know if there is any rescue operation that treats horses the way" horses" want and need to be treated.
Saffyre Sanctuary is such an operation.
Let's set the record straight here regarding this operation. I have been with this rescue for over four years and am very involved with the whole aspect of how it works. The posting by Olivia is one of a bitter person that did not get what she wanted so she had a temper tantrum, like most children have.
Had to go to court and request a restraining order to quench her unfounded accusations.
I have never met anyone who genuinely cares for what is best for the horses as Esta Bernstein does.
I visited many Southern California rescues and found most of them to be self serving rather than horse serving. Saffyre is the real deal for sure.

i Had never been involved with rehoming and or rescued horses. i love the arabians i recieved thru them and can only say a million thank you's and express what a wonderful experience this has been for me. rehoming and rescuing horses i think can be bumpy by its nature-Saffyre helped me thru the bumpy parts! My experience was fantastic. Esta and all involved are great communicators and always kept me in the loop and helped me -understand my part in the process. Always answered my calls and emails! I was personally welcomed with open arms literally. I have great respect and admiration for this organization-their heart is in the right place and what they are doing is a huge service in promoting and saving Arabians and other horses. i noticed great care being given to proper placement with individual and horse- which serves to make the bond secure and successful. it is hard to find the words to express how really valuable a service Saffyre,Esta and all are providing, it is truely a most wonderous thing that is being done, that someone really cares and holds to the highest standards. I now have two new members added to our family- Ollie and Kremson, Arabians and we are so very happy with them! This has been a win-win experience, I highly recommend Saffyre Sanctuary,Inc., i wish them only more support in continuing the great work at hand - saving and placing Arabians and other horses. Our Hats off to Saffyre, Esta and All. You helped my dreams come true! Sincerely JMHall and Family...........

I have been involved with horses for over 50 years, and met all kinds of people. People like Esta are in the rare top half percent of the horse world. She is tireless in her efforts to reclaim the lives of her rescues and provide the treatment that they have always deserved. She truly has these animals best interest at heart and is able to communicate with them on a level that is only known by a rare few. I have never met anyone as selfless and dedicated in their efforts in any animal rescue. If we all cared even a fraction as much as her this world would be a much better place for all animals...two legged and four.

It's really hard to put in words how wonderful and inspiring Saffyre is. I have never had experience with horses up close and personal, but within my first 5 minutes of being there, everything felt so natural. You learn to respect and understand the horses, since each one has their own personality, (just like us humans!) It's not about riding horses and using them for personal benefit. Saffyre is about spending time, learning and truly developing a nurturing relationship with such majestic creatures.

Esta has created a place where neglected or mistreated horses can come to regain their strength, both mentally and physically. Each horse has its own personality and Esta tailors their care according to their needs. As a volunteer, I was put to work but also taught about each horse and how Saffyre cares for them holistically inside and out. Overall, Saffyre Sanctuary is a great nonprofit that offers an excellent program for the horses and volunteers alike.

As the Founder of a 501c3 non-profit, I adhere to the highest standards transparency. I have invested my time, and the last 7 years of my life to help horses in need in California and across the country. In realizing that rescue involves highly charged emotions it’s understandable that many caring people in our field of helping animals can get emotional, however emotions do not always equate facts. Emotions blur perceptions. Social media, as wonderful as it is in helping us save horses, is also a very dangerous tool that can be used to discredit & even ruin ones reputation if fallen into the wrong hands. There is no such thing as responsible journalism when it comes to social media. Over the past few months, I have found that I was spending more time on damage control than rescuing horses. That being said, we were still able to place many horses in new loving homes. There are persons who may be sitting behind their computers strategically trying to find ways to not only ruin your life, but to sabotage your rescue efforts. These people are not rescuers, they are rescue sabotages. Their goal is to take the attention off of themselves and their own behavior & transfer it out onto innocent & reputable rescues. As a 501c3 we answer to the government as well as our own consciousness. I knew that addressing this issue in social medial was not going to be the answer. I stand behind what we do so strongly that we chose to address this issue in court. The person involved would not even give the judge a reason as to why they decided to attack us. This is now a matter of public record. Any individual can report any charity to the Attorney General, or any other agency, that is their right, and I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with us being reported. We have never done anything wrong, illegal or otherwise, and I am open and willing to share anything that comes from the fallout of this event. I am also going to state publicly that for every accusation made against me I can produce the proof to discredit the claim. For the people that chose to discredit us, I hope they will be as enthusiastic with our vindication, as they were when they tried to defame us.
