Reviews for Lotus Outreach

Rating: 5 stars

After being a donor for many years, I recently joined a subcommittee of the Board. I have given generously for years, and will continue to do so, because I know that nearly every penny of every dollar donated goes directly to benefit the young girls in need of an education. I fully support the work of Lotus Outreach and I hope others join me in supporting the extraordinary work of Lotus Outreach.

I'm met most of Lotus Outreaches volunteer staff and can see they all give huge amounts of time and heartful energy to this small but mighty NGO. LO reports are easy to read and show clearly they have continued to deliver almost all of the funds they collect to the recipients over the course of many years.
I have travelled to Cambodia and spent a long time in India where Lotus Outreach programs are operating and met many of the program recipients. Its easy to see how LO works on the ground as an with grass roots NGOs but also pays attention to the big picture by working to bring about structural change. The Lotus Education as a right networking program in Mewat, near Delhi India for instance, began by mobilizing highly illiterate village Indians to fight from the bottom up for improvement in the government schools which seemed in an almost hopeless state and lobbying a disinterested education directorate from the top down. Now, after a couple of years of intense work, the LEARN program is working WITH a cooperative government to completely renovate all aspects of these schools within 12 months. On November 11 this years the Prime Minister of India will announce the campaign Lotus has helped the government create at Mewat as a National Campaign!! Most people would laugh at the tiny budget all this has been achieved with. I have seen this kind of approach in many LO programs and give them two thumbs and 7 stars for authentic social development with an eye on long term solutions.

I'm a stingy person who always look for the best price in every way. When I shop/review through various NPOs that offer similar (sometimes identical) projects in India and Cambodia, I found Lotus Outreach gives the lowest/best quotation everytime. When some US NGOs request up to USD200 a year to support one child staying in school in India. Lotus Outreach amazingly offers the same package that demands only USD 20 each annually. Lotus Outreach is a TRUE bargain that makes every dollar worth our effort.

After working as a reporter in Asia for many years, I was looking for a non-profit that focuses on the empowerment of girls and women. Lotus Outreach is a perfect example of an effective grassroots organization with an amazing track record. Only a very small percentage of donations go towards admin and fundraising - they don't drive big Landrovers and they go into the poorest and most remote areas that are often overlooked by the bigger organizations. They work long-term, establish trust and involve the entire community in issues such as education and sex slavery. Highly recommended!

Having learnt about the effective and important work that Lotus Outreach does to help women and children who have been caught up in human trafficking, I was inspired to help raise funds.
In the run up to my fundraising event I was struck by the high levels of both enthusiasm and professionalism in Lotus Outreach's staff. These qualities of personal conviction and professional ability, amongst its team members, I think combine to make Lotus Outreach the effective and inspiring non-profit it is, a non-profit that quite clearly operates with integrity and transparency.

Lotus Outreach focuses on improving lives of many people, specifically women and children, who are in disadvantage because of the poor protection of human rights by the governments in their respective countries. In addition, Lotus Outreach works with local non-profits in other countries thus improving the infrastructure and bureaucracies that can further develop their policies in regards to protection of human rights.

increase the profile of the organization.

Working with Lotus Outreach has been an experience that has made me re-think all non-profits value completely. LO is run with the utmost transparency, and they keep in touch with donors through all avenues imaginable (email, social networking, web) to keep them engaged and in-the-know about how their dollars are at work. What impresses me more than anything is all of the thought they put into their causes and their execution of their programs. They only do what is proven to likely make a difference and help women, children and communities sustain themselves in the long run and are always innovating their approach for better outcomes. If the world's causes could be led by groups like LO, we would have a lot less problems.

Admittedly, as LO's development manager, my opinion is biased. But my commitment to this organization is a testament to its value. LO makes a real difference to people who are forgotten and overlooked, but integral to reversing the scourge of global poverty. And it happens on a shoestring budget - LO is one to watch!
