In November 2014, I volunteered to help Karam setup a computer lab in Al-Salam school in Reyhanlı, Turkey near the border with Syria. The lab had 20 desktop computers and 2 stronger computers which were capable enough to handle video editing and graphic design software. The Lab had one printer and an internet connection.
Upon having the PCs ready, another volunteer team took over the lab with 20-30 Syrian refugee students. They were teaching the students Scratch, a visual programming language from MIT (https://scratch.mit.edu). I wouldn't forget the hunger for knowledge in the eyes of those young men. Eventually, they created stories and interactive objects that move on the screen, using variables, conditions and loops. etc. in Scratch.
On another day, another team took over with other groups of students, they were young women, mostly in the age of high school, they were taught interactively how to search for scholarships and how to teach themselves English and other foreign languages using Duolingo and other related programs.
Then I had to leave before the conclusion of the week-long workshops. It was a remarkable experience for me. I left Reyhanlı with high hope that we helped as many as we can of those Syrian students to open their eyes and be reminded that there are always hope for a better tomorrow. And most importantly, I hoped that we had helped to set many of them on tracks for better careers in the future.
I'd keep supporting Karam and volunteering in their workshops as long as they live up to the high quality of their programs.

The efforts of Karam Foundation is truly remarkable!
Karam Foundation has consistently provided very necessary services to the Syrian people for the last four years, and it has done so with great transparency such that donors have confidence that their money is going where it is most needed.

Karam Foundation has proven itself to be one of the most trustworthy and effective non-profit organizations working to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people. Karam's leaders work with total transparency; they are fully committed to helping those in need and their work is filled with love and compassion. The crisis in Syria is the worst humanitarian crisis in modern history, and Karam continues to come up with innovative ways to meet the short-term and long-term needs of the Syrian people. I have complete faith that every dollar donated to Karam goes to those who need it most.
This is an organization of great people doing great work. I have been 100% proud of what little I've given in the past and am proud to know some of the folks involved. Kudos to them.
Karam Foundation is helping Syrians who are suffering every day in innovative and smart ways to ensure that your donation goes farther. Everyone who wants to make a difference for the Syrian people can do it by donating to Karam. The board and volunteers are passionate, smart, and committed to making every donation count.
This organization is doing amazing educational and humanitarian work for Syrian children who are in desperate need of help. Every donation is spent wisely by the board of directors, which is led by Lina Sergie Attar, a leader in the Syrian American community who has proven repeatedly her dedication and sacrifice to the Syrian cause. I highly recommend this organization to any donor wishing to help Syria or to help people in need.
Karam Foundation is an organization that inspires me to give more and to be a better person. It is run by an extremely committed, creative, and sophisticated board of directors that spares no effort to help those in need. I am proud to donate and support Karam.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Karam does great work for Syrian kids. I have connected Karam with a charity on the ground in Aleppo, Syria taking care of orphans. The charity was in desperate need of support as the number of orphans increased with every barrel bomb that fell on the city. Karam came through. Thank you Karam for being there for those in need.
Karam Foundation does phenomenal work to help alleviate the dire situation Syrian refugees face. What I love most about this organization is its transparency and its mission to help people in need help themselves through their smart aid initiative.
