The Humane Society of Kent County is dedicated to the protection and care of all animals. We give voice to creatures who cannot speak for themselves. We accomplish this by; promoting responsible pet care through public education and services; by working to reduce unwanted pet populations; by providing humane care to abandoned, injured or relinquished animals; and by finding homes for adoptable pets.

I have been volunteering with this organization and donating money since 2005. To see what they do to help animals on a daily basis is humbling. The money you donate goes directly to the care of the shelter animals and when you volunteer they make you feel as if you are part of a big family.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The amount of animals being adopted out.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Becoming part of a family and knowing that what I'm doing is truly helping animals and pet-owners.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
caring. They truly care about what they do and even though they do see and experience horrible things often, they keep their chins up and fight on.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Start a cruelty division and expand.
Ways to make it better...
I could volunteer more of my time. With a full-time job I can only go there once a week.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
funds. Being in Michigan where the economy is worse then most states is a challenge because peopole don't have the extra money they normally would to donate to this sort of organization. They run 100% off donations.
One thing I'd also say is that...
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About every week
