My professional development in the field of domestic violence started at House of Ruth. I am grateful to the women and children who taught me the complexity of abuse. I felt raw emotions in individuals not allowed to express, to think, to feel, and to be true to themselves while in abuse. As they evolved their world became a better place. House of Ruth allowed that to happen. On behalf of the clients and what was not only given to them but to me, I want to give something back. Thanks so much! Sincerely Laurie Mendiones LMFT (private practice psychotherapist)

House of Ruth is a comprehensive domestic violence agency that has been serving eastern LA and western San Bernardino Counties since 1977. While domestic violence occurs in families at all economic levels, the majority of House of Ruth's clients live at or below the poverty level and have few other resources. House of Ruth has a reputation for being extremely well-managed finanically and client-focused in all its programming; it is a leader among non-profits in the local community.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the focus on empowering women and children rather than telling them what to do.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

extremely dedicated and focused on helping end the cycle of domestic violence.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
