Reviews for Families & Friends Of Missing Persons & Violent Crime Victims

Role: Professional with expertise in this field
Rating: 5 stars

Families and Friends, formed in 1975, is one of the oldest victim service agencies in the country. Their compassionate, knowledgeable advocates are available 24/7 to help victims of crime, their loved ones and the loved ones of missing adults. If you need information about the criminal justice system in Washington state, someone to help you through the court system, a peer support group, or just someone to provide a listening ear, call Families and Friends of Missing Persons and Violent Crime Victims. They are truly a lifeline!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

making positive impacts on public policy on behalf of victims of crime; providing services for those grieving; and providing community education on the impact of crime on victims and how you can help your friends, family and others in their time of need.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Ensure they have a permanent stable funding base! They are partially supported by a state and a federal grant; but mostly supported by individual donors through fundraising efforts. All services are provided free of charge to ensure no one is left out.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Their dedicated staff and volunteers! The heart warming gratitude that clients have for this organization!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Devoted. Compassionate. Highly skilled.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide more one-one services for victims of crime; run support groups in every city of the state; provide legal support services for victims involved in court processes.

Ways to make it better...

n/a

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding

One thing I'd also say is that...

Services of this organization have mainly been provided by volunteers for much of their existence. Even so, it takes funding to recruit, train and supervise volunteers.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
