The Electronic Privacy Information Center is a public interest research center in Washington, D.C. EPIC was established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging civil liberties issues and to protect privacy, freedom of expression and constitutional values. EPIC pursues a wide range of activities, including policy research, public education, conferences, litigation, publications, and advocacy.
EPIC's award-winning work applies Freedom of Information Act rules to make government records concerning domestic surveillance, data mining, government profiling, and networking available to the public. EPIC publishes the "Litigation Under the Federal Open Government Law" manual, which is the standard reference work covering all aspects of FOIA and open government. The publication is in its 24th edition, and includes sample pleadings for litigators, updates concerning the OPEN Government Act of 2007, revised counsel on litigation startety, and analysis of new cases.
