Founded in 1996 and incorporated in 1999, Cultural Tourism DC (CTdc) strenghtens the image and economy of Washington, DC, neighborhood by neighborhood , by linking more than 185 DC cultural and neighborhood organizations with partners in tourism, hospitality, government, and business.
Cultural Tourism DC's programs reflect the broad spectrum of its mission: Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â· Neighborhood Heritage Trails Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â· African American Heritage Trail, Washington, DC Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â· Art on Call, a citywide initiative to restore abandoned fire and police call boxes as community art Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â· Annual citywide promotions offered in partnership with the Washington, DC Convention & Tourism Corporation Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â· Yearly events: Warm Up to a Museum (February); WalkingTown, DC SPRING EDITION (April); and WalkingTown, DC FALL EDITION (October) Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â· Tourism-driven community development projects in neighborhoods such U Street and Columbia Heights. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â· Publication of maps, brochures, and a major cultural tourism website
