Nonprofit Issues:

Animals

Address:

245 County Road 3422 Bridgeport TX 76426 USA

Mission:

The Center for Animal Research and Education's mission is to provide for a safe, permanent and loving home to exotic animals in need. CARE focuses on excellence in physical and emotional care, advocating animal welfare through education, and conducting minimally-invasive research that will improve living conditions for captive animal populations world-wide.

Results:

Operation Cool Cats, CARE’s ongoing summer project for building in-ground swimming pools for all of the tigers, is in full swing. So far, Chompers, Consuela, and Bonnie, Clyde and Levi have had pools built in their enclosures – and they love them! The summer heat can be very hard on the cats (especially our older cats) so providing cats with swimming pools as a means of cooling themselves off is essential. While the cats are provided with above ground pools every summer, we felt as if permanent, cemented, in-ground pools were a more viable alternative. Our volunteers and interns have been hard at work digging holes for the pools and then securing the pools in the holes with cement. While the building can be labor intensive, it is entirely worth it to see the cats enjoying the cool water and being able to stay cool in the Texas heat. By the end of this summer, we are hoping to have a completed in-ground swimming pool in each tiger enclosure.

We visited CARE for the first time 2 weeks ago. The volunteer that took us on the tour was great, she told us about every animal and answered all of our questions. Derek and Heidi were working hard, but they took time to stop and talk to us. You could tell that everyone there truly loves these animals. It is quite a drive, but we will be going back as soon as we can. The team at CARE is Amazing!!

I don't have an actual physical story just yet, but I will the week of November 11, 2015 when I visit CARE all the way from Alabama. I do however have an emotional story about CARE. If you love animals, then you will love CARE because the social media "CARE" sites will draw you in and the stories will touch your heart and soul. The love the volunteers show these amazing and beautiful animals is breath taking. When the animals are happy you feel their happiness. When CARE people or CARE animals experience heart ache or death, you get emotionally attached which eventually gets you financially attached. You just want to help as much as possible. From watching social media sites, to retwitting, revining, reposting, sharing CARE. I am PRIDE STRONG AND I am PRIDE PROUD. Go Heidi and Derek and all CARE volunteers and CARE supporters and followers.

There aren't enough "great words" to describe CARE and the people who run in/volunteer for it. I have traveled to CARE to visit and tour the facility. The volunteer staff was so wonderful to us as their guests. They TRULY CARE about the animals they support, as well as the humans they strive to educate in their efforts.
The animals who call CARE their home are so well cared-for, and sincerely the priority here. The love and care that they give to every creature they touch is not only obvious, but it is indeed contagious.
I will be supporting CARE for the rest of my life. This is not an exaggeration.

We had a fantastic tour of the facility on Saturday and could not be more impressed with the way these people care and love these animals. You can tell the animals are loved by the way they interact with the staff and volunteers. It was quite the incredible and unforgettable experience.

I found out about CARE through Big Cat Derek's vines and YouTube channel; I have absolutely fallen in love with these animals. I now wait each day to see new Vines, Youtube videos, Tweets, or Instagram posts from Derek, CARE, Jamie, and the interns.
The love and care that is provided to these gorgeous creatures can be seen through the pure excitement and joy the animals show when these workers approach them. Each animal's personality is able to shine through because they are truly happy and loved.
I am saving up to make the trip from the Toronto, Canada because I want to see these amazing animals in person. I try to donate anytime I can and constantly spread the work about this amazing organization.
Everyone should take the time to support CARE any way they can!

I found out about C.A.R.E. through Big Cat Derek's vines. I have visited the compound twice since last fall, and both times I have been amazed at the love, care and respect given to each and every animal there. It is very clear that these animals are well-cared for and loved by many. It was an awesome experience, and I plan on visiting again soon. I try to donate as much as I can through
my purchases at Amazon Smile. C.A.R.E. is worth it!

If you can't get there in person you can get there through Big Cat Derek on YouTube. His WATC (walk around the compound) episodes are entertaining, educational, and will have you falling in love with the magnificent LIONS, TIGERS, COUGARS, and more who are so fortunate to live where they are so well cared for and cherished. I recommend starting with episode #1 !
