Big Brothers Big Sisters Of The Greater Twin Cities

Children & Youth
2550 University Ave Ste 410N St Paul MN 55114 USA
The children in our program face significant challenges based on a number of socio-economic demographic factors. Seventy percent are low-income and almost 90 percent come from single-parent families, live with a relative or reside in foster care. Many are also members of families that have recently immigrated who may be new English language learners. A substantial number of the children in our program experience barriers to educational success due to a combination of these factors, as well as the effects of historical and prevalent racism, economic and social isolation and transience often caused by a lack of affordable housing.

An incredibly well run organization. Joining up with BBBSGTC is the best decision I've made. Everyone that I have dealt with throughout the org. has been very proffesional and fun loving all at the same time! They do an excellent job supporting, encouraging and thanking their dedicated volunteers! Everyone here is here for a great purpose then themselves and it's very obvious from the get go! I can't say enough about these wonderful people and the difference they are making in our community!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
being directlty invovled with little's and their bigs! Everyone is better for their experience!
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
get more involved.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
gaining a great new friend.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
professional and kind, but even more then that caring and compassionate, and true to their mission.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
would be great but they do so much with the resources they have available. Although they're not loaded I don't think $ is their issue.
Ways to make it better...
I could find more time to hang out with my 'little'.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
volunteer numbers. They do a great job recruiting I think but there is so much need.
One thing I'd also say is that...
I wish people could understand better what a difference the org. makes in the lives of everyone involved.
