Mission: Provide services and programs for women, teens, children, and families of miami-dade county in focusing our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Programs: Early childhood programs: the ywca operates and manages five early learning centers, implementing a well structured anti-biased developmentally appropriate curriculum serving children from six weeks to five years of age. In addition, the ywca operates three specialized drop off centers providing prevention activities for children from infants to age 12 whose parents are attending judicial proceedings. The above services were provided to 3,600 children 0 to 12 years of age.
after school care: the ywca provides after school programs on site at 9 elementary public schools and at one inner city residential community. The program meets the needs of working families by providing a safe and supervised environment that includes age appropriate academic and enrichment activities during out of school time. The above services were provided to 800 children .
youth programs: the ywca provides quality enrichment activities for inner city tweens and teens with a goal of redirecting them towards more positive pursuits including technology, peer counseling, tutoring, parental involvement, athletics, and mentoring, cultural and recreational activities. Services are provided during out of school time including holiday breaks and summer and include mentoring, teen pregnancy prevention, academic tutoring, and conflict resolution among others. The above services were provided to 150 individuals.
