The mission of the EcoTarium is to contribute to a better world by inspiring a passion for science and nature through discovery. Initiated in 1825, the museum is the second oldest natural history organization in the country with a strong tradition of working with schools and families to bring science and nature to life. The EcoTarium provides an affordable, accessible, and fun way for guests of all ages to participate in interactive exhibits, meet native and exotic wildlife, walk through beautiful New England meadows and trails, and enjoy special events and experiences that add to their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.
The EcoTarium's Special Community Events and Outreach Program (SCOPE) is an umbrella program to attract non-traditional museum guests, to increase museum accessibility to underserved community members, and to extend educational opportunities to children and schools throughout Central Massachusetts.
