My daughter, Joanna Swift, is the WYO's Administrative Director, after serving for two years as its Program Director. I am a Shadow Work facilitator, trained in Jungian psychology to listen carefully to what a person is really saying beneath the words, with a client practice since 2001. Joanna is an exceptional listener, and as a person is empathetic and supportive while remaining firm on boundaries, all of which makes her an outstanding mentor to young people. She's told me in confidence from time to time about the students who visit the WYO and how she engages with them, and I'm consistently impressed by her ability to reach them and help them where they are. Any parent of a student who visits the WYO can feel absolute confidence that their child will receive appropriate support and mentoring from Joanna and the staffers she supervises. I recommend the WYO without reservation.

exceptionally good listeners, caring, understanding, good-humored, hard-working, professional

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help more students at New Trier, who are under enormous pressure to achieve and to conform to the expectations of affluent parents.

I am currently on the Board of Directors, and was an attendee of the WYO when I was in High School. The WYO stands as one of few organizations on the North Shore that provides a broad spectrum of services to the local youth. We encourage you to attend a concert that we host, volunteer at one of our service projects, or drop-in to see what we're all about.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

it's compassion to service locally and outside the local community's, and the positve impact it plays in linking the youth with service and positve social activities.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the committment of staff and board members alike to make a postive impact on young adults by giving them options.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, welcoming, and compassionate individuals with a focus on encouraging leading young people in a postive direction.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

secure the future of the programs, services, and a facility for years to come
