Target demographics: Borough residents of all ages. Our particular focus currently is elementary school age.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Wildlife, birds, bees, butterflies, turtles, amphibians, trees, plants, water sources.

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Work in various gardens (planting, weeding etc); log observations of various butterfly species in gardens; monitor water quality in pond or stream; report illegal dumping or buildup of stream debris; plan and assist with children's activities.

Geographic areas served: Westville and surrounding communities bordering the Big TImber Creek Watershed and Delaware River.

Programs: 2013 - Build Flotilla Rain Garden
2013 - Pond & Stream Restoration - install 40 coir logs
in Thomas West Pond & feeder stream
2013 - Spring Native Plant Sale
2013 - Environmental Science Program for Schools

Mission:
To promote conservation and development of the Borough's natural resources; study and provide educational leadership in all areas of environmental concern; instill community pride by creating awareness, understanding and appreciation of the environment through education and participation; and make recommendations to the various governing bodies.

Installation of Rain Garden at School; 2000 sq ft Butterfly Garden at Pond and at Coast Guard Flotilla. Shoreline Restoration Project & 5th grade tree planting. Gloucester Co. Annual Earth Day Cleanup on 4.21.12. Annual Make a Difference Day Cleanups since 2008 + Spring Open the Parks cleanups. Rain Garden and Butterfly Garden seminars in conjunction with Rutgers. Spring Plant sale and Fall Festival.

My High School Art Club volunteered for a Community Clean up through the Westville Environmental Commission. They were very organized, friendly and made the clean up a great experience for the kids. Our Church Youth Group is invited each fall to help clean up areas in our community. This organization is well organized and preemptive in having the areas identified as most in need of clean up.
