Issues: Religion

Location: 2321 E. 4th Street, Ste C607 Santa Ana CA 92705 USA

Mission: Our vision is to train urban leaders with a priority in 250 at-risk zip codes in the U.S. Our mission is to provide urban youth the leaders and role models they need to live transformed lives by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many urban youth leaders and youth ministries lack the capacity to develop ministries that are able to engage the youth they serve. UYWI is investing in these leaders and helping them to build healthy relevant ministries to reach urban youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Results: We have trained more than 22,000 leaders over the course of the last 5 years, we have positioned ourselves as the “go-to” brand for training, developing and investing in urban youth workers in many of the most troubled and at-risk areas throughout the U.S. Our goal is to continue to link arms with some of the best and brightest leaders serving in the trenches of America’s at-risk zip codes and build deeper relationships with them.
Target demographics: equip and train urban youth leaders for maximum impact in Gospel-centered, life transforming ministry to youth in urban “at-risk” zip codes.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 5,000 urban youth leaders receive training
Geographic areas served: Cities thorughout the U.S
Programs: 90 Degrees - UYWI Certification Program – 90 Degrees is a 12-month intensive leadership development program designed to support high-capacity youth workers as they impact their ministry and community. 90 Degrees focuses on Leadership and Practical Youth Ministry Skills that leaders can reproduce in the lives of ministry colleagues. RELOAD – RELOAD is a one-day training conference in major cities across the country that gathers and refuels 150-400 urban youth leaders, teaching them core skills, building their inner life and connecting them through practical workshops, networking opportunities and worship. The Well –An online resource program designed to provide 24/7 access to practical youth ministry training taught by urban ministry experts from across the country. 360 National Conference – This is a 3-day national training event for urban leaders and youth workers who work with at-risk youth across the country for training, refueling and resourcing.

I believe that UYWI is the best urban youth worker's training in the country. I have even brought non-urban youth workers to UYWI events and it has been incredibly relevant since the topics discussed at every level of training have been relevant to youth in the city or in the suburbs. A non-exhaustive list of topics are: fatherlessness, drug addiction, how to make leaders, how to do bible studies, summer planning, personal growth, staying healthy, partnerships, incarnational ministry, letting the Holy Spirit lead, etc. I have been to an UYWI event for 10 years now and they have not skipped the beat; in fact, they seem to create the beat that youth workers need to be bobbing their heads to since what they focus on always seems to be the heart of God for that specific year / region / city. Between RELOAD, THE WELL, and the National UYWI event, there is a production of high quality people, seminars, webinars, MP3 recordings and a highlight of relevant books that I should read. Without UYWI, I know I would not be as equipped to lead as I am now.

As I reflect on this my response is, "Wow". I've personally experienced the results of this organization in EVERY level of my leadership. God has used UYWI to recruit me, train me, grow me, and now that I lead a larger ministry than what I started I still leave refreshed and having learned more on how to be a better leader.

UYWI has been a tremendous help in my life and in my ministry with youth in Detroit. Being apart of Youth for Christ's City Life ministry for over 10 years, I have benefitted from online trainings, audio trainings, Reload tour as well as being a presenter numerous years at Reload in Detroit. I would recommend this organization to anyone interested in getting into urban youth ministry as well as a savy vet looking to stay sharp. -Peter in Detroit

I have been a student in UYWI's Urban Training Instiitute for a few months now. The level of training and support they provide is far beyond what I expected. The trainers are very knowledgeable in their subject matter. The community is encouraging and the staff is willing to help get the info you need, when you need. I have been blessed by this organization and believe they really do care about the individuals they serve.
