To benefit the tulsa library system.
The tulsa library trust funds the library's summer reading program, which encourages children and young adults (teens) to read and visit the library. Reading goals are set and children/young adults who achieve the reading goal receive a prize. In addition to the prizes, several library branches hold programs throughout the summer to promote reading. Approximately 44,000 children/young adults signed up for the summer reading program in 2013, and over 55% of the children reached their reading goal.
the tulsa library trust purchases materials to supplement the tulsa city-county library's annual materials budget. These materials enhance selected topics in accordance with the library's collection development plan. Examples of the materials purchased include books, electronic books (e-books), downloadable magazines and music, etc.
the peggy v. Helmerich distinguished author dinner is an annual event. The $40,000 award is given to an author in recognition of a distinguished body of work written in the field of literature. The recipient gives a formal address at the award ceremony, where a dinner is provided to attendees who have purchased a ticket for the event. In 2013, 400 people attended this event.
