Mission: To benefit the tulsa library system.
Programs: The tulsa library trust funds the library's summer reading program, which encourages children and young adults (teens) to read and visit the library. Reading goals are set and children/young adults who achieve the reading goal receive a prize. In addition to the prizes, several library branches hold programs throughout the summer to promote reading. Approximately 44,000 children/young adults signed up for the summer reading program in 2013, and over 55% of the children reached their reading goal.
the tulsa library trust purchases materials to supplement the tulsa city-county library's annual materials budget. These materials enhance selected topics in accordance with the library's collection development plan. Examples of the materials purchased include books, electronic books (e-books), downloadable magazines and music, etc.
the peggy v. Helmerich distinguished author dinner is an annual event. The $40,000 award is given to an author in recognition of a distinguished body of work written in the field of literature. The recipient gives a formal address at the award ceremony, where a dinner is provided to attendees who have purchased a ticket for the event. In 2013, 400 people attended this event.
