We wish we heard about this production earlier! We saw our first Theater-Hike production of the Jungle Book yesterday. What a great show for all ages! Not only was it a great production but watching the show at the beautiful North Park Nature Center was a bonus. We loved the idea of hiking to various sections of the forest preserve as we watched live theater. What a great concept!

Yesterday, I had the immense pleasure to attend our first Theatre-Hikes performance, of The Jungle Book, at the North Park Village Nature Center. The production was incredible! The combination of amazing acting, creative costuming, and the hiking in between scenes (as well as using nature for the "sets") was AWESOME! When else do you have a deer running behind the actors during a stage. I HIGHLY recommend this company to ALL who love theater and the outdoors, and ESPECIALLY to families whose children might REALLY benefit from walking/talking in between scenes :-) KUDOS!!!

We have been fortunate to have attended at least one Theatre-HIkes performance for the past 8 years. We look forward to it every year, as a visitor to the Chicago area. It is a unique experience, in that you are superbly entertained while connecting with our environment. The actors have to deal with the elements, and they do a superb job. Whether heat or rain, the show goes on. During the production of Charlie Brown a severe storm came up. They knew it was coming, so the show was held in a pavilion. At one point, the show had to stop until the worst part of the storm passed through. We had a real treat as the actors mingled with the audience. After 10 minutes, the storm passed and to see the actors get right back into character was amazing.

I've worked on several shows with Theatre-Hikes, both as an actor and a director. They have a very unique mission to bring affordable theatre to the masses as well as instill a love of nature and the outdoors. They are a great organization to work for as well as be a patron of.

I am a professional costume designer in Chicago who has worked with Theatre-Hikes during the previous 2 seasons, and I can't praise them enough as a company. They are fantastic to work with, from a designer point of view. They hold high professional standards for their tech, which I appreciate, and they are very respectful of their designers in a way many small non-profit theaters are not. Because of Theatre-Hikes unique mission and approach to theater, I've always felt challenged creatively in the best possible way. The shows themselves are a fantastic experience for the audience, getting to see great quality theater in a beautiful outdoor setting. I try to attend all their shows, whether I'm working on that production or not, simply because I love the experience of seeing first-rate theater outside. All in all, they are a hard working theater that produces exciting and engaging productions that the whole family will love. They truly deserve your support.

Last year I had the great pleasure of attending The Wizard of Oz. I had never experienced anything like this before and I was blown away. I had such an amazing time, the actors where great, the set was really creative and I loved the idea of getting a little exercise while watching a play. This was an awesome experience and would recommend checking it out if you have never attended. This is also great for families with children.

When visiting the Chicago area, we try to make at least one performance a year to this incredible theatre. The experience of being outdoors and moving with each scene is something to marvel. The acting is outstanding and it is amazing how they take their scene props with them. While walking from one scene to the next you sometimes have the opportunity to interact with the characters. Last year we actually were able to see The Wizard of Oz and The Hobbit. Both were very enjoyable and Smaug was beyond our expectations. Bravo!

I brought my toddler to the Theatre Hikes production of Wizard of Oz and had a great experience. Being outside in beautiful scenery allowed me to enjoy the show while keeping my young daughter entertained. The set looked professional and I was amazed at how well they were able to create a set while moving from scene to scene. This was the first show my daughter actually sat through in entirety and I think the idea of it is truly incredible. This environment is great for all ages and I would recommend it to anyone. If I didn't live several states away we would make this a regular weekend event.
