When I found out that I was pregnant for the first time, I was excited and in shock all at the same time. I was happy to be having a baby, but was also worried about my current financial situation. I wanted to be able to give my baby the best, but at the was struggling to make end meets. When I first came to the Source for Women I felt at peace once I entered the door. The environment as well as the staff was very comforting. I received help and reassurance with my complicated situation. The staff was genuinely happy for me and my soon to be new addition, and the entire experience gave me hope. I didn’t mind the questions I was asked in the initial visit consultation. I felt that the information they would receive would further help me and other future clients with assisting them with different needs. It also let me know that The Source was here to assist all kinds of women with all kinds of pregnancies, as well as a variety of decisions that maybe made on behalf of those pregnancies. After my first visit was complete I know there was no other place I would rather be and no other place I would rather have to assist and guide me through my very first pregnancy. I was actually given a list with a number of facilities to choose from, but I know without a doubt that The Source for Women was the place for me. The Source has helped me feel calm and confident about my entire experience. They have provided me with knowledge on how to better take care of myself as well as my baby. I have been given clothes, formula, diapers, and much more. They threw me a baby shower that I will always remember and appreciate. The fact that I am originally not from this state, doesn’t know many people and don’t have my family around makes my experience that much more challenging. However coming to The Source I have meet great people, made new friends and feel confident that my baby will have everything she needs. I have had a truly amazing experience with The Source for Women. I never knew that this type of resource was available to women. I found out that I was pregnant in December 2009. I was devastates because I had not planned on having anymore kids, now that I am 37 years old. I already have a son (14), and a daughter (11) that resides with my ex-husband in Dallas Texas. I thought my baby days were over. I live with my boyfriend of 2 years who is the unborn baby’s father. He is 10 years older than me (47). I researched places regarding pregnancy counseling and assistance once I found out I was pregnant, because I was trying to make a decision on whether or not I wanted to keep the child. I am a recovering alcoholic, so I did not know what effects my past could have on my child. Or if I would be able to maintain my sobriety throughout the term of my pregnancy. The counselors and staff that assisted me were so very kind and thoughtful. They offered insight and advice in a spiritual manner in which was exactly what I needed to hear. They reinforced the ideal that I was not the first person to face this predicament and that my faith was enough to get me through this pregnancy successfully.
