Mission:

Soldiers' Angels is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families. Founded by the mother of two American soldiers, we have hundreds of thousands of volunteers assisting veterans, wounded and deployed personnel and their families in a variety of unique and effective ways. Soldiers’ Angels responds quickly to requests for support and provides individualized, immediate assistance.  It is a “one-on-one, get it done quickly” organization.  Our volunteer Angels at home adopt individual deployed troops and stay in touch throughout their deployment. Wounded soldiers and their families are asked what they need, and Soldiers’ Angels responds in a hundred different ways:  voice-activated computers; financial assistance for loved ones to stay with their wounded family member; phone cards to call relatives who can’t visit as often as they wish, etc.  Both the organization and the program have grown, but, unfortunately, the needs of our deployed soldiers and their families are growing even faster. This is especially true for our young men and women who are wounded. The government is providing first-class medical care for our wounded soldiers, but it will never be able to provide all of what they deserve and so many services desperately needed by their families.  Soldiers’ Angels works closely with the Department of Defense, the nation’s major veterans groups and a variety of other military support organizations to make sure these brave young men and women who are being helped.

Reviews for Soldiers' Angels

Rating: 5 stars

I'm a longtime member (Since 2006) Of Soldier's Angels and appreciate the way they communicate weekly with all of us "Angels". I serve on both the Deployed and Letter Writing Team and each team has a leader that sends weekly emails with updates and opportunities to connect with others for ideas or questions.

I had been thinking about joining Soldiers' Angels for over a year. I saved the link in my email and went back to it from time to time. What made me finally do it was my college friend that was in the army, deployed a few times, and he was an instrumental part in the two organizations Carry the Fallen and Active Heroes. He and many others are working on reducing veteran suicides from 22 per day to ZERO. This has become a passion of mine and while my friend is no longer with us, he passed away from cancer last Fall, I told him that I would help carry on his mission. What a great way to help reduce veteran suicides by supporting soldiers while they are deployed. The experiences and living conditions are likely far from their normal life while stateside. Maybe, just maybe, reaching out to soldiers while they are deployed helps them transition once they return. I have made several friends from this organization and look forward to each and every letter/interaction I have with them. I encourage others to look into Soldiers' Angels, as there are so many ways you can get involved and, from experience, they truly make a difference in a soldier's life.

Soldiers' Angels offers me an opportunity to give back to those who give so much. I enjoy bringing a smile to the face of someone who is deployed far from home and am consistently amazed at how appreciative the Soldiers are to receive something as small as a card or letter. I am on the Card Plus Team, Deployed Adoption Team and Chaplain Support Team and enjoy the opportunities each of these teams provide to support our troops and veterans.

I was recently asked what I like best about being part of the Soldier's Angel's organization. I am part of the Chaplains' Team and the Women of Valor Team. What I like best is the fact that I get to send care packages and letters as a form of love and respect to total strangers that I will never meet. Our military men and women are out there taking care that me and my family are kept safe without expecting anything in return. We have a wonderful leader, Kaleena, who keeps us informed about the needs of all our troops, but also continually encourages us in our desire to help support our troops. This organization is a wonderful way to give back to the folks who give so much.

I began being a Soldiers' Angel about 2 months ago and am having a wonderful time. My questions as a newbie are being answered and I feel very confident in my participation in helping our military men and women through the Chaplains' Team. As a member of a many-generation military family, I know the hardships that the men and women go through being away from their families as well as being a family member who has experienced the loss of the presence of family members. Being part of this group helps me to show my appreciation in a small, but tangible, way each month for what our men and women do every day. I am so happy to be part of such a wonderful group of compassionate people.

It is very warding to make anyone smile during your day no matter what type of day they're having by making a soldier smile when they're in a war zone is priceless. Being a member for many years I have received many responses thanking me for taking the time out of my normal life to make there's a little more normal This organization helps connect and provide information for the soldiers and for us as the supporters which is invaluable

I have been a Soldier's Angel for years now and have had the fortune of supporting our soldiers who have been all over the world. I feel that this in addition to supporting Wreaths Across America Houston, this organization allows anyone to make as big or small of a difference as they can. I appreciate this organization in that they do all the leg work in finding soldiers who want to participate and provide us with guides in our journey to make the difference we want to make.

I started in 2015 on the LWT (Letter Writing Team) and have since joined the Cards Plus Team. I love the work we do and it is incredibly rewarding. Not only do I get to give back to those who serve us but in return I have found my passion for writing, made some great friends and feel really included and involved. I love making an active difference in the lives of US troops and feel like I belong somewhere. I wanted to give back and say thanks and never expected so much love to come back to me. I love the other angels, the teams are fun and so friendly and we rally together to support not only our troops but each other as well. Joining SA was the best thing I ever did and I'd love to get more involved in other teams in the future. You really see the results unlike other charities and it doesn't feel like work but like you're part of a big family.

I joined Soldiers' Angels in 2015 as part of the Letter Writing Team. I'm a British girl living in Germany since 2011. I'm away from my home, family and friends so I can relate to times of feeling lonely and I've done long distance relationships too. I have friends and family in both the UK and US military. As a supporter of the UK military charity "Help for Heroes" and the US "Wounded Warriors" this was something I could get directly involved with and actively from abroad rather than just donating money or fundraising and is very close to my heart. The UK doesn't have anything like this yet but I love writing to American troops and love what we do. It's personal, can make a huge difference whilst soldiers are deployed (not just once they are home or become Vets) and it is the most rewarding selfless thing I have ever done. It brings me so much joy to write to these amazing heroes telling them about me, my family and hobbies and thanking them for their service not before closing with some positive words of encouragement and something funny to make them laugh or smile. I feel like we are sending them love and hugs in a letter to comfort them and show that we care, that they matter and that someone is always thinking about them. We don't always hear back. When I do hear back though it is like Christmas (maybe even better!) and is the best feeling in the world! My team is so friendly and loving and you just feel the love, respect and patriotism we all have for our servicemen / women and countries and it just fills my heart with pride and a lot of love. I feel I found my 'home' here and I've definitely made new friends too! Am so proud to be a part of this organisation and in the future want to get more involved by joining some of the other teams of Soldiers' Angels. Semper Fi.

I'm an Angel on the LetterWriting Team of Soldiers Angels and get so much reward from being able to contact, support and encourage the military men and women fighting to keep this country safe from harm! I feel I truly get more out of writing the letters I send than the person who receives it. It's not for selfish reasons I write these letters!! It is just a great side effect!!! I'm thankful to Soldiers Angels for such an opportunity!

I've been a member of Soldiers Angels now for a little more than 4 years and it's given me the opportunity to help reach out to our service men and women and thank them for their service to our great country. It's also given me the chance to touch the hearts of their family members at times by way of sending a card for one reason or another. I've also sent crochet lap blankets to several veterans hospitals with the help of Soldiers Angels. Sent my handmade Christmas cards to over 300 injured soldiers that otherwise I would not have had access to had it not been for Soldiers Angels contacts. The amazing work done by and through Soldiers Angels can't be measured by counting votes or headcounts . . . but by the hearts they touch through each Angel connected to this organization. I'm proud to call myself one of those Angels!

I have been involved with Soldiers' Angels since 2009. My son had just left for basic t raining in the Army and I heard an interview on the radio of this organization and what they do. I immediately looked them up on line and adopted my first soldier. I became a community coordinator. volunteered at Ice cream socials at the VA Hospital, marching in parades, and booths at community events to share the organization. I still keep in contact with some of the soldier's I've gotten to know through Soldiers' Angels. It has been very enlightening and fulfilling supporting our troops.
