Soldiers' Angels is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families. Founded by the mother of two American soldiers, we have hundreds of thousands of volunteers assisting veterans, wounded and deployed personnel and their families in a variety of unique and effective ways. Soldiers’ Angels responds quickly to requests for support and provides individualized, immediate assistance. It is a “one-on-one, get it done quickly” organization. Our volunteer Angels at home adopt individual deployed troops and stay in touch throughout their deployment. Wounded soldiers and their families are asked what they need, and Soldiers’ Angels responds in a hundred different ways: voice-activated computers; financial assistance for loved ones to stay with their wounded family member; phone cards to call relatives who can’t visit as often as they wish, etc. Both the organization and the program have grown, but, unfortunately, the needs of our deployed soldiers and their families are growing even faster. This is especially true for our young men and women who are wounded. The government is providing first-class medical care for our wounded soldiers, but it will never be able to provide all of what they deserve and so many services desperately needed by their families. Soldiers’ Angels works closely with the Department of Defense, the nation’s major veterans groups and a variety of other military support organizations to make sure these brave young men and women who are being helped.

Reviews for Soldiers' Angels
Baking for the deployed soldiers & sending care packages fulfills me & I hope it makes the day of that deployed soldier just a bit brighter, helps them get through their day a little easier & realize that there are people who revere them and the dangerous & deadly jobs they do. Those soldiers are the true superheroes as are their families & friends waiting for those soldiers to come home hale & hearty. One soldier I recently sent a baked goods care package to never received it, as he lost his life before it could get to him, his widow and 2 young children did. I received his widow’s email informing me of his death and thanking me for my support to her deployed husband. My reply email was the hardest thing I have ever had to write. I then notified my Team Leader and she got things going to connect with the soldier’s widow with the various services Soldiers’ Angels offers military families. Soldiers’ Angels has programs for every aspect of a soldier’s life and a soldier’s family’s life. Soldiers’ Angels is a fantastic organization & I am proud & humbled to be allowed to be part it.
I have been a dedicated Verified Angel since 2007. I have received some of the most heart warming as well as heart breaking letters from the Service Members I have adopted. I've seen them through break ups, child birth while deployed, loss of brothers in arms and every other situation. I have read the letters and have laughed and cried. I remember when these guys were no where near Internet or cell towers. I have received flags that were in planes on bombing missions, deployment coins and battalion patches. I treasure it all. I will continue until they are all home. I let them know they are appreciated for their dedication and service. I feel safe.

As a member of this organization, I chose it because it was shortly after 9/11 and I needed a proactive, non-political outlet. Since that time, I have sent many weekly letters of support to the soldiers I have adopted, cards thru the card support team to touch a stranger in times of joy, grief, or congratulatory. So many have written that bc of Soldiers' Angels "I can go out and do what I do, knowing that we are not forgotten.". So many have said that with technology the skype or rare home call does not give the same lasting feeling of support as a hard copy and the morale boost when their name is called for mail call. "I had my head down but seeing my name on the mail call roster, lifted it...I can not tell you how much the letters mean to the troops here. We feel that people think the war is over and we are all home.". One said she disciplined her letters to "opening only one a day to keep the joy lasting as long as the letters were opened." The organization has expanded thru the years to now include family, Veterans, Caregivers (Women of Valor) that are committed to 24/7 care of 9/11 survivors or military related long term health issues. Fischer House is also supported thru their needs Going beyond the Letter writing with quilting, baking, crafting utilizing so many talents has made this a broad spectrum of a rainbow for those of WW2 thru todays active duty and retired. With the suicide at 20 a day, I only wish the needs of all who need a stranger to say "You are not forgotten" You are our Nation's treausred". .It is with great pride that I say I am a Soldiers Angel.
I have been a member since 2004, and have found that taking a few minutes out of my week, it allows me to provide a smile to many deployed. It encompasses not only care packages but for some adoption of an individual who is in need of greater morale support, chaplains with supplies, medics with a break-away from their stress, K-9 teams with additional grooming supplies, treats and toys, Ladies of liberty with a touch of pink and magazines of interest, Wounded Warriors with encouragement as well as Fischer Houses, Ladies of Valor (care-givers from 9-11 and beyond) morale support, with our Bakers Team and Knitters, Birthdays and holidays are sweeter, Military families struggling with operating on "Hold" support and morale. Veterans in homes or Homeless, gifts, treats, care packs, This is for the on-going or the ONE-Time either in groups such as church or classroom, youth groups or companies as well. Quilters donate lap blankets for the immediate transport when belongings are left behind. If you can read, write, reach out and bring a smile, this is the organization that provides so many avenues. Making mail-call an event instead of a reminder of where they are. This is NOT a statement of politics just a reaching out from the heart.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Have more youth groups and classrooms aware of the opportunity to "Pay it forward", in a one time or ongoing adoption.
Would you volunteer for this group again?
For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?
Did the organization use your time wisely?
Would you recommend this group to a friend?
When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
What an awesome organization! As a veteran myself, I know how much it is appreciated to hear from people knowing they are thinking of you, and supporting you while going thru deployments, holidays, hardships, and anything else. This organization puts you in touch with soldiers, and soldiers families who are in need. I am so very proud to be volunteering, and donating what I can to make a difference. This is a great organization to get involved with if you are looking to donate.
I am a volunteer with this organization and know many of the leaders from other activities we have shared. This is a lean, spunky, passionate, grassroots organization that has mobilized "any average American" ,and some pretty amazing ones, too; to support our veterans and their families. They exemplify the idea that anyone can help, we all can do something and it can make a huge impact on someone's life. To think that they have been doing this since 2003 is pretty amazing. Today they continue to evolve, grow and give!
This is definitely not your everyday charity. It's dynamic, and there is always someone to write to, to bake for, to send care packages to...and you work to your own strengths. Whether you send out 50 letters a month or 5 letters a month, no one pushes for more. I've met wonderful people through SA, I think I joined up in 2009. I can't imagine not angeling. Nope. Can't imagine it.
I have been a volunteer with this group for several years. I really like feeling like I'm making a difference for someone and that I can show my appreciation to our service members. And I love hearing from military members that tell me how much it was meant to them. A great organization full of great people.
I've been with Soldiers Angels since the beginning, back in 2004. I started as a hobby while on a leave of absence after having surgery. I have been a proud adoptor, a baker, a letter writing support and part of the special ops team. I have met many amazing men and women that have served this great nation and I am proud to say I am still friends with many of them. this is a great organization that really does what it can for our heroes deployed and their families so they know just how much they are appreciated.
I love having a angel to talk to when things are getting me down. They listen and give great input when need. They will always be my angel. My husband loved getting father day cards. Made him feel important and not just the person in the background.
