Mission: Awareness and education to youth and adults related to alcohol and drug abuse through providing prevention activities and services.
Programs: Reduce substance abuse among youth and adults by addressing risk factors in the community that increase the risk of substance absue and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse. Activities toward this goal include parenting classes, providing web-based prevention-related curriculum to the local school system, providing teacher training in use of web-based prevention curriculum, formation of member youth advisory group to promote alcohol prevention among youth under age 18, and providing scholarships for education and training.
establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, private nonprofit agencies, and federal, state, and local governments to support the efforts of community coalitions to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth. Activities toward this goal include creation of a bilingual resource directory containing information in spanish to new members of the community, creation of website, building rapport with key decision makers at the local, state, and federal levels, and community latino festival to introduce community services to latino population.
