Scott & white memorial hospital ("swmh"), located in temple, texas, is the flagship hospital of the scott & white healthcare system and is the only level i trauma center between dallas and austin, texas. The mclane children's hospital scott & white is the only stand-alone children's hospital between dallas and austin, texas. Scott & white continuing care hospital ("cch") operates a 50 bed, all-private-room, free standing long term acute care hospital ("ltac") targeted to care for critically ill and medically complex patients. Cch is the only ltac hospital in central texas. Scott & white identified a need for residents of central texas to be close to their friends and loved ones requiring long term acute care. Cch provides patients daily physician visits, icu and med-surg level nursing, case management, social services, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, telemetry, dialysis, ventilator management and weaning, special monitoring, respiratory therapy, physical, occupational, speech and nutritional therapy, pain management, and wound care. The goals are to move patients to the next level of care and avoid readmissions to a general acute care hospital. Unique services provided at cch are onsite 24/7 icu critical care provided by internal medicine physicians, a 6-bed dialysis suite, and an onsite ct scanner.
