SAN MATEO COUNTY HEALTH FOUNDATION Overview
Target demographics: The projects and programs we fund impact the entire San Mateo County community. San Mateo County Health Foundation is forging solutions to the Healthcare Crisis. Through our partnership with San Mateo Medical Center, we aim to meet the Board of Supervisor’s 2005 vision of health and safety for all and access to care for all residents.
Direct beneficiaries per year: We partner with San Mateo Medical Center, which serves over 80,000 individuals per year
Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: help us to sort and assemble the beautiful hand-knitted items for our baby bags, spend time in our office, assisting with data entry, research and other duties, learn how to be a ‘tour director’ for or take a tour yourself of the San Mateo Medical Center, take pictures or videos of our program priorities.
Geographic areas served: San Mateo County
Programs: Our current funding priorities include:
A) Ron Robinson Senior Care Center, a unique, multi-disciplinary senior outpatient clinic, which provides comprehensive services (from podiatry to psychiatry) in one location for our community's expanding aging population. We recently funded a $1.5 million renovation/expansion of the Clinic to meet the growing needs.
B) The Keller Center for Family Violence Intervention, a nationally recognized clinic that provides compassionate, comprehensive care for victims of child physical and sexual abuse and neglect, adult sexual abuse, domestic violence and elder abuse.
C) Bundle of Joy program, which serves newly pregnant mothers, by providing easy to follow information about how to optimize pregnancy and childbirth through information in both English and Spanish and which also provides community-handmade blankets and other items for newborns.
D) Critical Needs of the San Mateo Medical Center, including equipment needs and innovation. We have funded the newly installed $1million CT scan and have provided funds for implementation of Electronic Medical Records and Electronic Prescribing, increasing clinic efficiency and patient safety, Healthcare Interpreters Network, providing culturally competent verbal and non verbal translation to our rich and diverse population, as well as women's and children's programs.
