They Give Their All at Sacred Friends Inc, a non-profit organization that aids wildlife in southern Virginia; www.sacredfriend.org. This organization takes in any Native Wildlife in the state of Virginia. Nothing is turned away. They are the 'Wildlife Center' with a 'Heart'.
Everything that comes in is handled with loving care. If the animal has a chance to survive the staff at Sacred Friends makes sure it gets it. It might mean that later that their hearts will be broken because the animal did not make it but then again their are those stories in which that chance is all that animal needed to thrive and survive again.
Point in take, a Cooper's Hawk came in with a badly broken wing, the 'Underdog'. Normal the type of fracture it had most places would of euthanized it but here at Sacred Friends, we gave it that chance. It proved to use that among tremendous odds it was a 'Survivor'.
So for all the 'Underdogs' out there!! Let's give them a chance at Sacred Friends Inc. Look us up at www.sacredfriend.org.
Review from #MyGivingStory
wonderful group-we send many customers to them when they have a need for a rehabber. The group came and did a outreach event at our store to bring awareness to the public about hawks and accidents, and what they do. wonderful professional group. our nature store customer loved their hawks, and enjoyed hearing about their rescue stories.
This is a great non profit that does amazing things. I know they are still looking for new members and volunteers to help out.
Sacred Friends Inc. Wildlife Rehabilitation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; We do not charge for our services. The wild animals we rescue do not have owners to pay for their care, nor is there any state, federal, or local funding for this service. We are completely dependent on donations to pay for needed food, housing, and medication. Everything a wildlife rehabilitator does is paid completely out of their own pocket. Please help us help these animals!
We strongly advocate coexistence with wildlife and work to educate and assist the community in understanding the nature of wildlife conflicts so that humane solutions can be utilized. The majority of wildlife conflicts can be resolved by addressing the cause -- what is bringing in the wildlife? We strongly discourage trapping and relocation. Studies have shown that both methods are ineffective in addressing problems on a long-term basis, and may even result in higher wildlife populations. We teach the importance of preserving native wildlife species.
Our Mission: The purpose of Sacred Friends INC is to: (1) through “The Hawks Nest” program teach how to live with Native Wildlife, how to work with the environment rather than against it by the use of educational (non releasable) animals. (2) Through “Seven Feathers” (Restaurant & Store) teach Native American Culture through food (meals), crafts, dance, & music and (3) through “Sacred Friend Wildlife Rehabilitation” provide care for sick, injured & orphaned wildlife. The corporation will teach about the connection between Native Americans and Wildlife. - See more at: http://sacredfriend.org/#sthash.m7ctCj7Y.dpuf
