Target demographics: We serve the hungry, homeless families, and anyone impacted by domestic violence in Pinellas County

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: help sort, pack, or distribute food at the RCS Food Bank, assist victims of domestic violence in obtaining an injunction against their abuser, answer phones, greet program participants and donors or even assist customers and/or program participants in selecting merchandise at the RCS Thrift Store

Mission:
To feed the hungry, help homeless families return to self-sufficiency, and empower survivors of domestic violence.
Results:
2011 was an incredibly challenging year for our community. RCS, its volunteers, and staff have done a phenomenal job responding to the growing number of people in need. Here is our list of accomplishments for last year:
The RCS Food Bank provided supplemental food for 55,353 individuals in Clearwater; and 69,678 individuals through the USDA Commodity program elsewhere in Pinellas County.

The Haven of RCS provided a wide array of domestic violence intervention and prevention assistance to 22,856 persons.

RCS Grace House provided a comfortable and dignified apartment to 570 individuals with no other place to call home, 369 of which were small children.
The RCS Thrift Store provided $22,904 worth of clothing, household goods, and furniture to 500 people in our community without resources to purchase these items.

192 families received assistance to prevent eviction or foreclosure, 456 families received help to keep their power on, and 1,220 people received transportation assistance.
RCS volunteers provided $700,000.00 equivalent in services this year.

We have done our work with an administrative cost of 6.8%.

The Haven of RCS, part of the RCS umbrella has been critical in assisting clients referred by the community for safety from Domestic Violence.. We are very lucky to have such a dedicated group in our community... more »

My family has supported RCS for a number of years both financially and by volunteering and based upon that experience I have recently joined the Board of RCS. RCS plays a critical role in Pinellas County through the RCS Food Bank, the RCS Grace House which provides short-term housing for families ... more »
