I had a great experience with Real Ideas. I met a lot of real great people. The mentors and founders were fun to work with and I still keep in touch with them. I found the experience to be very helpful for me professionaly and socially. Learned a lot to help improve my skills. The locaton and being in the middle of such a great festival was also an unforgetable experience. I've made great friends and recieved great opportunities and would do it all again if given the chance.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

On my self. I've met more people out of my immediate experience that have been with them and it was great to connect that way. The global impact and how it reaches people from all over the world. The work on youtube gets seen by everyone.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

better oganize the skills of indiviuals to meet the team requirements. Have better screenings of people being accepted. Lay out better rules in terms of judging and film criterias.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Meeting new people and being in Utah for Sundance!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Amazing! I still keep in touch and wish i could work with them all again!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide better housing for the students. Better filming equipment. More equipment so that everyone was well supplied. We are all students and paying for all the meals during Sundance was incredibly costly so if that was covered too that would be great.

Ways to make it better...

The lodging experience was much better.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The fees for students to pay to attend.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I HAD A GREAT TIME AND MISS ALL THE GRAT PEOPLE I MET!

Real Ideas Studio offers an amazing hands on approach to filmmaking. They don't just talk about films, they give students the resources to go out and make them. I have been blessed to have found RIS in 2006 by enrolling as a student in their summer program in Cannes. There I met like minded people whom I collaborated with and will continue to work with throughout my professional career. Since I have been back to Cannes with RIS twice. Again, they afforded me the resources needed to make my visions a reality. It has opened my mind to the world of possibilities and allowed me to share my thoughts with the world. I have recently signed on to volunteer with Real Ideas because I want to continue to be a part of such a strong program.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

filmmakers from all around the world.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

create more programs at more film festivals around the world.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the freedom of creative expression it affords.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

so engaged and passionate about the program.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

award grants to deserving filmmakers who could communicate important and powerful messages in a world where film is primarily used as entertainment. Allow more people to have a voice and we could change the world, one film at a time.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time to volunteer to this organization.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Monetary needs. More resources = more opportunities for future filmmakers

One thing I'd also say is that...

Claire Erwin has devoted her life to this program and I am in awe of her passion, compassion and openness. She is so dedicated to helping filmmakers achieve their dreams.
