California embraces our responsibility to respond to the needs of people in our communities, especially the poor and vulnerable. This commitment, this mission rooted in god's love for all, began with the sisters of providence more than 150 years ago. The heart of our mission - we focus our community benefit outreach on four specific populations. These are low-income and uninsured people, diverse populations, older citizens, and people with behavioral needs. Our outreach can range from covering the medical bills of a husband and father disabled by diabetes, to financially supporting a nonprofit that embraces older refugees and immigrants. During these hard economic times in our neighborhoods and our nation, we reinforce our commitments to caring for the poor and vulnerable.
