The mission of the Private Industry Council (PIC) is to "educate, encourage, and empower family and individual development and to create career enhancement opportunities through training and workforce development, which will perpetuate and improve the quality of life in southwestern Pennsylvania".
From its inception in 1983, the Private Industry Council has provided services to over 75,000 families and individuals; assisting youth, adults, dislocated workers, and the economically disadvantaged in obtaining and retaining employment, attaining educational achievement, and supporting their family growth. PIC operates over 25 programs through an organizational structure of three divisions - Early Childhood Development, Education, and Workforce Development.
Programs: Employment, Advancement, and Retention Network - Addresses the needs of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) individuals.
PA CareerLink® - PIC is an operating partner of 4 local CareerLinks®. Pathways Out of Poverty - Provides training & placement services to individuals seeking employment within the energy efficiency/renewable energy sectors in the southwestern PA region. Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing (HPRP) Program - Provides financial assistance, job search & financial literacy workshops to individuals at risk of becoming homeles. Government Procurement Assistance Program - Provides procurement guidance to companies interested in selling their product or service to the local, state, and/or federal government. The System for Assessment and Group Evaluation - Made up of 19 individual assessments, SAGE is used by job seekers, career counselors, and employers. Training and Supportive Services - PIC provides training and supportive services to individuals with disabilities in the form of Job Coaching.
