PO Box 128 Amityville NY 11701 USA

Founded in 1998,the Parrot Fanciers' Club was formed to educate all bird owners on the proper care & feeding of their pet birds. Located in NY, birds have come in from Delaware and have been adopted out as far as Texas & New Hampshire. Any type of bird, with any temperament or disability is always taken into the Parrot Haven. Parrots are placed in members qualified homes. Our goal is too never have any bird go homeless, hungry or die from lack of medical intervention. All involved are volunteers. No person receives any type of salary or financial compensation.

the parrot fanciers club also includes "parrot haven" which is a parrot rescue group. when owners of parrots can not keep the bird any longer they turn to parrot haven which finds a good home for the bird. lisa & dennis Umstead who runs the haven do a lot of work taking care of these homeless birds and try to get them adopted as soon as posible. the club holds monthly meetings to talk about birds and answer questions other bird owners might have. we also try to raise money to help feed the rescued birds. they really put their hearts and souls into taking care of these parrots.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way they take care of the homeless birds. they are always well fed and given lots of love.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

i would not change a thing.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

how we can all get together and do something for animals. it feels good to help them.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the most wonderful people you would want to meet. there are members such as rey & debbie & leslie who give so much time to help raise money and to care for the birds.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

it would make sure that evey bird has a good caring home and would always get care.

Ways to make it better...

it could not be any better.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finaces and food.

One thing I'd also say is that...

most people only hear about people who love dogs and cats but i will tell you that bird owners really care about their pets.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
