The Palm Springs Art Museum (formerly Desert Museum) provides extraordinary creative encounters based on its vast permanent collection and outstanding changing exhibitions that are offered in the flagship building in Palm Springs and the newly opened facility in Palm Desert.

We recently opened a new branch in Palm Desert to help serve the mid and east sections of the valley and are in the process of raising funds to complete the restoration of our third building, which will be an architecture and design center (opening in spring, 2014).

Target demographics:

We serve a broad range of residents and seasonal visitors.

Geographic areas served:

The Coachella Valley, the Inland Empire and the Southern California drive market.

We service the community with programs such as Free 2nd Sundays, free Thursday night admissions, free film screenings and lectures and offer a variety of compelling live performances in our Annenberg Theater.

The Palm Springs Art Museum is an absolute gem in the desert. It is always a delight to visit the well curated exhibits, which lean towards modernism, but include some classical exhibits as well. The roster of events that are open to the public are superior for a museum of this size. Since moving to the desert a year ago, I have been very impressed with this lovely, au courant museum. I have a Masters of Interior Design in Sustainable Design, and I am very excited by the museum's new focus on the preservation of mid-century architecture.

This is a fabulous art museum (actually its name changed from Desert Museum to Palm Springs Art Museum in 2005)featuring modern and contemporary art, Western Art, photography, contemporary glass art, architecture and design. The building's mid-century modern architecture, set at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains in the village of Palm Springs, is a work of art in itself. Another highlight of the museum is its 433-seat Annenberg Theater.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

For the past five years

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Encourage more people to join as members and contribute financial support.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

It is a truly fabulous mid-size art museum

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Amazingly creative, caring and loyal

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

add the money to its general endowment, thereby generating approximately $500,000 per year for the operating budget

Ways to make it better...

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Obtaining financial support to support its ambitious plans

One thing I'd also say is that...
