Oregon HEAT develops and coordinates resources to help low-income Oregonians meet their energy needs and achieve energy self-reliance through energy education and advocacy.
Through assistance, education, and advocacy, Oregon HEAT provides immediate and long-term solutions to those in need. Our core program focuses on helping low-income families in crisis to keep the heat and lights on at home. The community-based oil recycling program accepts donations of home-heating oil as well petroleum products from business and industry to lessen the energy burden on low-income households and reduce the level of petroleum waste products in the state. The pilot project Energy Smart, now being evaluated, combined holistic case management along with with energy conservation tools to reach the root of a household's problem paying energy bills. Both Energy Smart and the oil program are looked to as national models for energy assistance programming.
