Mt Soledad is an exceptional memorial with living and deceased veterans from all over the United States. The site is a place of inspiration with an extraordinary 360 degree view of San Diego County.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

its everyday operation, meeting veterans from all over and listening to their stories.

It was a perfect place to visit and the Veteran walls are beautiful granite plaques telling stories of war heroes from the Civil war right to the Iraq war. I was so touched it may be cry. Such bravery of these veterans it leaves you breathless. It honors all US veterans, living and deceased. I was so proud to be able to view these plaques and felt I knew a bit more about each Veteran

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

looking for a way to honor my family that have served in the Military

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Mothing

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The friendly staff

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The Executive Assistant and the Director

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Finish the walls and make new walls. I noticed there are no walls in the back of the Memorial and it would be nice if it was a complete circle of plaques

Ways to make it better...

The entire wall was of veterans, front and back

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

More exposure to the Military community and San Diego and all over the United States. I know you don't have to be a resident of San Diego. So it's open to every Veteran Honorable discharged

One thing I'd also say is that...

It's breataking views are awesome

A group of volunteers has banded together to create one of the most unique and popular memorials to veterans in the United States. Our community support has been fantastic and our impact on veterans and their families has been remarkable. Onsite,we hold ceremonies annually on Memorial Day and Veterans day, we host individual veteran honor ceremonies throughout the year, we supply docents to help the public understand and appreciate the plaques installed on the memorial walls and we maintain an active website honoring veterans.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

ordering plaques to install on the memorial walls honoring my father, grandfathers and uncles.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

bring people into the organization that could increase its prestige along the line of the Midway project in San Diego.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the incredibly moving stories you can read on the plaques and the incredibly strong positive impact these plaques have on the families who install them.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

sincere, dedicated, friendly and completely honored to be serving veterans in this manner. They are veterans themselves in most cases and truly understand the importance of the project.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

allow us to complete the first phase of the project and implement our community outreach program. We need electricity at the site, restrooms, expanded parking facilities, the ability to honor more veterans at the site.

Ways to make it better...

the process of creating a plaque could happen more quickly.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the ongoing legal controversies relating to the veterans memorial cross, providing funding for the long haul (annual giving through memberships), and keeping the community focused on regularly honoring veterans.

One thing I'd also say is that...

this organization ought to be a community focus but the legal issues of separation of church and state have taken the focus off the veteran at many times.
