Mission: The mississippi nurses' foundation raises, accepts and disperses charitable donations to promote professional nursing and better health in mississippi.
Programs: Mnf had a successful year as it continued to promote infection control and school nursing in 20 elementary schools in mississippi; through the foundation's high five hand washing program. The scholarship programs continues to increase with nursing students and nurses seeking degrees across the educational continuum (ad, bsn, msn, phd, dnp). A total of $92,000 was awarded. Mnf is in its fourth year funding of department of health-office of tobacco control grant for nursing students. The grant provides stipends for twenty nurses to attend mna annual convention and it teaches nurses and nursing students about the dangers of tobacco usage. Mnf has increased the number of healthcare professionals seeking approval to offer continuing education to other healthcare professionals. Mnf continued its relationship with retailers and automotive dealers to promote healthcare and nursing in non-healthcare arenas. Finally, mnf developed a new partnership with the mississippi department of health office of emergency preparedness to host a hand washing workshop and provide hand washing supplies and educational material to health science teachers throughout the state.
